Inappropriate behavior in the chat rooms

Folks, I'm a little upset by a number of recent incidents that have been reported to me over the past few days about bad stuff happening in the chat room.

Bad stuff = people not listening or caring about one another, and in some cases, not only NOT being supportive, but using profanity and other inappropriate behavior toward other members.

I have little patience for people acting badly in the chat room because it is real time, and people often go in there because they need support right then. They don't need attitude, they don't need a fight, they don't need disagreement.

Because this bad behavior involves more than one or two members, I'm posting this here to let everyone know I will not tolerate such behavior further. The people will be warned by PM, but if I hear of another incident involving any of these folks, the member will unfortunately suffer a suspension and possible ban from the site.

The chat room is provided as a service to the community. If you cannot use it properly (and 95% of you do use it properly, so this isn't directed at you!!), I'll have to take it down for awhile until people cool off. Since it is not monitored by the staff here, we trust you, the members, to act accordingly and maturely while in chat. For instance, the Support Room is for support only. Don't go in there expecting to strike up some conversation about a movie or such. Go in there to give or request immediate support.

PS - Sorry to blow my top here, but I really get tired of having to open my inbox in the morning and see 20 PMs from a dozen different people complaining about an incident or two or three that happened in the course of one evening!

I don't understand what went wrong in the first place...But I'm open up for giving advice if needed! Like wise I think it kind of got out of hand being loads of people in one chatroom. Thank you, Miss_A.

Thanks, Doc John! I'm glad to know you know about it. It's a shame that some people can't be thougthful of others.

o i will admit that i stepped a little outta line the other day and i don't feel the need to appologize to them for my behavior. they really upset me. i saved the chat. if they are complaining about me then they should have reported themself. it is that simple. I do appologize to those that were subjected to my profanity and rudeness but not to the indiviguale.

I have only been a member here for ten days, but in that time have found the chat room to be a fun, safe, and supportive place.

The one time things got rocky while I was in there, I notified a moderator who came to the rescue and sorted things out. ((((((January))))))

I too know what chat Kat is referring to, and have also saved the chat being referenced. I happened to go into Support (because I needed it), and had members follow me to support me, and another member who entered at a later time decided to hijack the conversation; hence, the changing of the topic in the room. I apologize to those that were in the room that had to endure my sarcastic (YET unprofane) remarks, but I will not apologize to the member they were directed at.

Kat, no apology necessary here hun...I know where it was coming from. You were only trying to defend and support me.

Just observing here, but it kind of looks like what might be happening in chat is happening in this thread?

Can personal dialogs relating to who did what to whom be done via PM's?

Just an observation from someone who admittedly doesn't use the chat feature, so please feel free to take it as you will.

I think the chat rooms are great and a wonderful place to go for any reason whether it be for support, an answer to a question, or just general chitchat.

Having said that - are we talking about me here? With all the "I won't name the horrible member!" nonsense? Cause really, I have no clue and it's making me feel slightly out of the loop. And if it is, I'd like to discuss it further via PM instead of passive agressively through posts. This isn't an attack or anything, I'm just feeling slightly stupid and would like to clear it up.

Obviously there's no reason to name names publicly. I posted it because I wanted to put everyone on notice this kind of behavior won't be tolerated.

If you see someone acting inappropriately in the chat room, notify a mod or me immediately.

Those I'm addressing specifically in this thread will have already received or will receive a PM regarding the behavior shortly.

I appreciate it, Doc. I don't use the chat room as often, but I don't want to subject to inappropriate behavior when I do go there, either. Thanks for the reminder to all of us! And nice to see that *YOU* can also get soom good use out of your own forums by venting too.

I will be more mindful of my behaviour and obnoxiousness in the future, I swear. I really like the chat rooms too. It's a good place to get real time support and understanding and to help others as well.
