Jennie,
Thanks for asking. The answer is not a short or simple one. At some point about two years ago, numerous co-workers began coughing as they would pass by my office door and would perform other provocative behaviors like giggling when I would say hello and giggling again when I would ask what the giggling was about. Leaving suggestive 'object placements' intended to have meaning to me (for example, Target store receipts, 'Sign here' post-its and such. Drivers on the road would occasionally swerve into my lane, presumably to cause an accident. My car was smashed into in a drive-off while it was parked in my apartment complex and no contact information was left with the car. I would go to a usual restaurant for lunch and other public places and get many of the same provocative behaviors there from people I had never met. The most infuriating thing about it all has been that they all structure their 'work' so that they can (and do) deny doing anything at all and pretend ignorance when questioned. That seemed to begin not long after I confronted my director of personnel over her role in the suicide death of the elder PhD I mentioned earlier, as reported to me by another PhD friend and confirmed by another. I complained to my supervisors, but they discounted my complaint and began to take part in some of the same behaviors. Then one of those supervisors demanded that I enter into psychiatric treatment. I refused and insisted on an investigation into my original complaint, which had never been conducted. That supervisor has threatened termination of my fifteen year career if I do not comply with his order. For eight years before that and to the current day, I've been forced to endure what I call 'click-messaging' while at home, whereby I'm treated to click noises from sources unknown that are timed to coincide with words and phrases occurring within TV and radio broadcasts as a means of anonymous semi-communications. It's rather like pounding your fist on the table when the character in the Western says, 'I'm gonna shoot ya down, varmint!' as a way of conveying your own message using the character's words. The semi-communications often revolves around mockery and ridicule. Even if I could locate and prove their source, it would be viciously difficult to prove definitively that they have been intended to coincide with broadcast dialog. At risk of breaking the forum rules (if I have not done so already), you can learn more about this at afafa.org. Sounds (at least partly) delusional, doesn't it? And that, in a nut-shell (pun intended), is the psychological catch-22. Apparently, some disease has been spread about me, whose authenticity and accuracy I can never verify, since noone talks to me directly. It must be more than simple office politics, since it involves the at-home component and other aspects beyond the workplace and surely must involve the resources of some authority (or citizen activist group with tools of surveillance that they should not rightly have in their possession). No way to prove it. No way to stop it. No way to question it. Nothing to do but wither away. |

Yes. I'm getting to the commiserating part, so maybe that's more in line with the forum's ideals.

I think the google adds are trying to diagnose you. Better run.
We don't let mental health professionals here to just watch and learn crap, they have to be here for support or we don't feel comfortable. This is sort of similar. Albeit you're not here to learn anything, you're just here to ***** your point of view of people seeking support. You've expressed you don't trust the mental health profession, well, for the most part we kinda do trust them at least partially on good days. Why are you here then? Find a politics forum. I don't feel comfortable having you here. I'm pretty damn delusional but this seems pretty darn insane. Find a Scientology forum, they don't like mental health professionals either. You'll be uber welcome there.

Quote: No, I am not crazy, have no history with the psychiatric profession and am of perfectly sound mind and abilities. I am a research engineer and faculty member working for The Georgia Institute of Technology

And incase you haven't noticed YET , you're at a mental health support forum, so lets refrain from sounding so condenscending, cos we're perfectly able adults here, not children.

Agreed, this is not a place to go on an activist political rant about the world or such. Sorry, this is a support forum and community, and we look to our members to read the community guidelines before posting and understand what kind of community we're trying to foster here. This isn't it.
