Im going to be working on some photo/video tutorials for how-tos(just like the one at the top of this forum for how to post a picture!) and am wondering what you folks think should be done. Leave your ideas here for me! Is there anything you dont know how to do that you would like to do?

How to multi-quote. I've read the directions, but I can't seem to do it myself.

I agree -I don't how to multi-quote and sometimes I can't even do 1 quote the right way. Then sometimes it works but I don't know what I did to make it work.

I also don't know how to pictures in my album(although I have 2) and name them.

Rainbowzz, did you happen to notice where I discussed and demonstrated multiquoting last summer? Feedback & Technical Support > Quoting from a quote (08-30-2009)

I was thinking you might like to build on some of what apparently worked there, and/or avoid whatever didn't. I noticed a couple of responders trying it successfully and a couple of others claiming, seriously or otherwise, that it was too complicated for them.

I like to work in the "Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls" mode because then I can see the actual tags that will produce the effects I want (or don't want). I'm pretty sure I'd find it harder to set up and troubleshoot quotes in WYSIWYG mode ("Enhanced Interface"), and especially to try to tell someone else how to do it.

Hey, maybe one of your tutorials could even be on how to survive in WYSIWYG editing mode!

*passes torch to Rainbowzz*

One other thing to consider in your tutorial, or maybe to write a tutorial about, is that different users are going to be seeing different reply options and controls depending on what settings they're using. I experimented a little during my first month or so here, then settled on the settings I've been using ever since. I tend to forget, when I'm telling someone else how to do something, that they might not be seeing on their screen quite what I'm seeing on mine:

-- At the bottom of my screen (when I'm viewing a thread and haven't started to reply yet) I see a "Quick Reply" box ready to type into. With some of the settings I tried earlier, though, that same box appeared grayed and if I wanted to reply to the thread (not to an individual post) I had to use some other method. I don't remember what setting(s) I changed, or where, to arrive at my current ones.

-- In one thread last spring, we started discussing reply options and one member asked about some button they were seeing at the bottom of every post. Nobody else seemed to have anything like that. We eventually figured out that that member was using one of the alternative "skins".

The thread where all this came up was Feedback & Technical Support > Reply Permissions, 06-07-2009. Oh, that's another difference issue -- you'd write that same date as "07-06-2009," wouldn't you?

JBM,

That would be more of a site suggestion. You can send a private message to DocJohn if you would like to make that suggestion!

I don't think I'd care for that option myself, but let's try it!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
