Among other meds, I've been on 30 mg of Lexapro for quite awhile. 3 months ago my psychiatrist wrote me a new mail order prescription but he wrote the wrong dosage on the script and it was unable to be filled. Nobody told me this until I called asking when I would receive it. The mail order said the Dr would have to resubmit the prescription thru a fax to them. The Dr did but faxed them the same one that was wrong in the first place. So now we're all confused with the mail order blaming the Dr and the Dr blaming the mail order and me in the middle and completely out of Lexapro. I've been out since last Sat and now I'm having withdrawal symptoms. Supposedly the problem is fixed and I should get my med soon. The lessons I learned from this is 1) Don't leave the Drs office without making sure the prescription is 100% accurate and 2) Start making noise a little sooner because you don't know how long it will take to fix a problem. Oh well, I guess I got what I deserved for ignoring 1) and 2). shaggy
Thanks for this!

(((shaggy dog))) Thanks for sharing!!! Its important for everyone to know that Drs, even good ones, make mistakes. We should be checking our scripts, and also making sure the handwriting is legible. If we cant read it, chances are the pharmacists wont be able to, justing causing more delay, when he/she has to call the Dr to clarify the order. Have you tried calling your Dr's office to see if they have any free samples they can give you while this thing is being sorted out? Drug reps. usually keep the Drs well supplied. I hope you are able to get your med soon!!!

I'm so sorry this happened to you. It must be really frustrating. The free samples sounds like a great idea, but if your doctors office doesn't have any free samples, see if they will write a prescription for only 4-5 days worth of Lexapro for you that you could have filled at a local pharmacy. That could hold you until your prescription arrives in the mail.

I hope everything gets straightened out very soon and you get feeling better.

I hear you... when this happened to me I had my doctor call in two weeks worth of the Rx to my local pharmacy to hold me over until my mail order medicine arrived... and of course I had to argue with my insurance to get the job done - but in the end it all worked out.

I had a bad experience recently for an antibiotic. I never saw the script because the MD wanted to call it into a local grocery store pharmacy that was giving free antibiotic meds. I did the best I could for how poorly I was feeling, but forgot the double check anything because he was not the usual pharmacist. I thought I heard him say the brand name, yet I ended up with the generic. It wasn't until the second day (3rd dose) that I realized I was not doing well at all, and went to the Urgent Care Center. I'm allergic to generics. I knew better, but was unable to check the bottle when I got it, or even when I took the doses.

Do your best.

Lexapro withdrawl is NASTY. I went from 20mg to 0 cold turkey and felt like death warmed up.
I was prescribed 20mg by my pdoc, and the pharmacy only gave me 10mg. I used this for like a month without realising. One day I finally noticed and it explained why I was just running round in circles.
It is quite frightning to realise hpw these guys can easily make mistakes

I have had a few scrapes with Drs and chemist over the years one that springs to mind....

At the time I was on 20 mg of some med I cant remember which one. I would get four ___ five mg as the chemist never had the 20 mg tabs.

I used a different chemist who filled the script and off I went on my merry way.

I took the four tablets in the evening (I think they was abilify) for two days, I was so ill hubby had to take me to the Drs. Instead of taking 20 mg I was taking 80 mg boy was I ill.

So your right ALWAYS check what the Drs script is and ALWAYS check your meds BEFORE you take them.

My doctor made a mistake on my son's Ritalin script and actually doubled the dosage. We got the script filled (at double the price) and my son has been doing better than ever! So that was one mistake that worked out well.
