Has anyone tried hypnosis with any success? I had a horribly difficult pregnancy (hyperemesis gravidarum) and swore I would never become pregnant again, but lately I've been thinking about whether I could control the extreme nausea with hypnosis next time. This one hypnotherapist last time thought she could help me and i went to one session. I was very easily hypnotized and afterwards felt much better physically, more rested than I had been in months. She said I needed at least six sessions, though, and I couldn't make them because at my next checkup I was hospitalized again.

So, I would love to hear people's experiences with hypnosis. Actually, I would also be interested in acupuncture experiences, especially if you've used it during pregnancy. Thanks so much!--Lauren

Personally, I do believe you can use it this way. The fact that you have experience, and a T that you trust, gives more credence to the idea. I used hypnosis to help me have 2 natural childbirths. (No, the fact that the spouse didn't give a whip about helping didn't help it be totally sucessful lol)

I also used hypnosis years ago when seeing my dentist (in fact, he is the one who "taught" me indepth how to use it.) I couldn't use the anesthesia available at that time.

good wishes!

I'm not a hypnosis or accupuncture/accupressure expert or anything, but if you can tolerate ginger, it's considered relatively safe for use during pregnancy to help combat nausea & vomiting. It's not the most powerful herb in the world, but it does do wonders for the stomach.

A friend of mine also used a dramamine patch the ob/gyn ok'd for her morning sickness.

Hi Lauren,

Like Sky, i used hypnosis during pregnancy to have three completely natural childbirths. i'm very suggestable and it worked well. The best thing is that it's safe. Have a back up method maybe- but it's definately works for a lot of people.

Take care,
kerria

The other thing to consider is that you may not get that again. I had it during my middle pregnancy, the first one I sailed through, and the last one I had morning sickness (which scared me into thinking it was going to be like the previous one) but then it passed in the usual time for morning sickness to my great relief.
