The only hypnosis I tried was to quit smoking. It didn't work for me unfortunately. I found I had better luck with my own meditation in that regard.....but still haven't been able to quit smoking for very long hypnosis... has anyone I'll keep practicing.

Some people tend to be more easily helped with hypnosis than others from what I've seen. I guess it's hard to know if it will work for you unless you give it a try.

the childbirth class I took involved self-hypnosis, and the way we were trained is that the instructor 'guided' our hponosis sessions for 5 weeks. however, I wouldn't say that it was hypnosis like you see in the movies. it was more like guided meditation.

in general, it is probably more work on your part than you would expect it to be.

you know sabby....i sometimes think that NOTHING but your own decission will make it. You r self work your fight your exception of the fact that you wtill want to smoke...

I have ben trying to read self help books or do whatever in order to ofrget or reduce my fear when singing. but discovered that still all this just an excuse that kept me away from DEALYING with it the way it was. Singign with the fear. excepting it.

This "need to smoke", before it became the need to smoke, was your life energy. It still is, but in a different form. You probabaly want to except it and not comfront it all the time and then it just take it`s previous form What you resist will stay....What you except just merges back into you hypnosis... has anyone

I'm using a hypnotic cd for healthy eating and weight loss. I follow along and relax to the suggestion. It's mostly positive messages. Then, when the cd is finished, I'm awake and alert.

I think I'm releasing feel good chemicals and generating positive energy during the cd.

On the other hand, I have a series of podcasts that I listen to when I'm doing housework. They talk about self defeating beliefs and self sabotage and how to counter them. I think these help me even more.

It could be the combination. I don't know, but they're working.

Quite true (((((((((( jinny )))))))))))) but I believe this situation is quite different as it is being discussed and used as adults in wanting to use hypnosis in a positive self help situation. The mind of the adult is quite different from the mind of a child in this realm. What I'm trying to say is that I hope that people who consider using hypnosis will find reputable hypnotists hypnosis... has anyone

I been so busy I haven't been on for a few weeks, and it looks like there might be some questions here I can answer.

First, all hypnosis is self hypnosis. It's not something someone does "to" you, it is something you do for yourself with the guidance of someone else.

Second, Everyone uses hypnosis everyday of their life. They just don't call it hypnosis. They call it day dreaming or zoning out. Meditation and guided imagery are both hypnosis. There is many other names out there that people use instead of using the word hypnosis.

Third, you are always in control when you are in hypnosis. You are following them down the path to your goals. Being as you are following, not being driven, you are always in control.

I hope this answers some of your questions, if there are more please post them and I will do my best to answer them.

Thanks,
Rick

This sounds like a touchy subject for some here.
I just wanted to update on the attempt I made to order the Stop Smoking (without losing weight) set of CD's for the guy who was on TV for a while on the program, "I Can Make You Thin." I went to his website, and paid for the set of CD's, around $90 including shipping. I waited and waited, then finally contacted them, getting the response that they were still waiting for the new shipment "from Europe." A waited nearly another month and wrote to them for a refund, which they promptly did place on my credit card.
I noticed this fella quickly disappeared from Discovery TV, and I'm wondering if there weren't complaints against him?/???
Anyway, I know I'm a good subject for hypnosis, and it is interesting that it has been stated that all hypnosis is "self-hypnosis" here.

It's unfortunate that some might be triggered at the mention of hypnosis. Yes, I do agree that the basis for all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. hypnosis... has anyone No one can talk you into something that isn't in your own realm to begin with.

Even those who used to volunteer to be on stage to quack like a duck, for instance, probably would do that at a party anyway, you know?

But it can be a good tool for someone to work with for himself, imo. By working with it on your own, you will never go over material you aren't ready for, not in the least, I think. That's pretty safe.

Self-Hypnosis is a very powerful tool if used on a regular basis. Yet there are somethings that are not easily done without someone leading you down the path.

Seeker, the cds are notoriously slow in getting to people. I don't know why, but if you go to his website forums, you'll see others complaining. McKenna is still around. If you're still interested, you can put in his name into youtube and see some of his work.
