Well I got the results of my cat scan today. Its official I have a brain hehe. But seriously nothing is wrong with it and that is a bit of a relief and a stressor because I still have my headaches and its frustrating to go all day with my head pounding so much that I can hear my heart beating in my ears. I probably should limit my computer time but I miss you guys when I'm not on. This is the first time I've even felt relatively good enough to come out here but I think right after supper I will go home which I know will hurt my dad's feelings because he misses me when I stay home but my head hurts and I don't know if I could handle wheel of fortune tonight but I will try. I'm supposed to try to take some allergy meds to see if its allergy related. But basically I'm to learn to live with the pain. UGGGGGGG

I'm glad to read there's nothing wrong! But still, I bet those headaches are annoying. Can't your dr do any more tests to try to work out what they are caused by?

Oh dear!
I've had migraines since i was seven, and it was only two years ago i stopped taking the meds for them. However i don't know where mine come from either- it has been suggested 'STRESS' (although i don't know how i became stressed at the age of 7) and also as Abdominal Migraine- as i usually get stomach cramps, and other aches and pains with them. I know it's frustrating not to know what it really is, but i've not had one for a quite a long time now. I get the occasional with blackouts, but nothing as constant and blinding as when i was younger.

Maybe it is allergy related? And it's probably something you should take seriously? Have they mentioned anything else- medication etc?

Janniebug,
Are your headaches migraines? It is good to have all the possible tests...yes, blood pressure, eyes, allergies, etc. If nothing works, they have meds that are supposed to work for migraines....However if you are anything like me, nothing worked. I had a bad reaction to every med I was given that was supposed to control migraines, even some narcotics. I am allergic to all morphine & its dirivitives. I was having migraines 24/7....guess that meant I just had one massive one that never went away for over 4 years. They started when I was put on Anti-depressants & then I am sure I screwed up my brain chemistry with some of the OD's I did. I would have thought it would have gone away after several years but nooooooo. They even found a problem with my neck & did a neck fusion operation....scared the crap out of me....what if they slipped.....oh well, it went fine but did nothing for the migraines.

After the neck fusion, I was put on Fentynal (a narcotic) patch. It helped but not enough to get rid of the pain or even make it bearable. I accumulated quite a few spare patches & decided to try doubling up when my pain specialist suggested it in passing. I worked miracles....no pain for weeks. When I went back to him & told him how well it worked, he denied ever saying anything about that dosage. He perferred my going to the ER for demoral shots instead but the ER didn't approve of him not controling the pain & didn't want to be part of the care package....he really didn't authorize going there either.....just let it hang. When I confronted him about the amount of Fentynal that worked he told me to find another pain specialist & he wouldn't treat me anymore.

I found a new pain specialist who had me do another MRI of my brain....yes, I too have a brain....lol.....but I also have what they call "white spots" or "leisons" that indicate severe migraines & lack of oxygen to the brain usually caused by migraines. As soon as the new pain specialist saw that, he decided to put me on what worked & didn't worry about the dose. He said that the DEA wouldn't come down on him because he is able to justify the amount....stops the pain & gives me back my "quality of life". It is amazing that I can function so well on the dose I am on, but I am our riding my horse every day, training in dressage for showing....am able to drive without swerving at all.

It is important for you to find something that helps take away the pain....there is never a need for you to "learn to live with the pain".....NO WAY....don't let anyone tell you that is the only thing that is acceptable.....find a good pain specialist that works with headaches/migraines.....you are entitled to a "quality life" & don't let anyone tell you different. Anything else is unacceptable.

If you need any information on finding someone that can care for you that way & what questions help determine someone who can help.....you can PM me.

Sorry I went on about my own experience, but I hope no one else would have to go through what I did in order to get the necessary help.

Debbie

Eskie?? Lesions in the brain denote migraines?? really? I have intensive migraines, but when they checked my brain for MS there are no lesions there... (one lesion would have confirmed MS) ... do you have a link for that info by any chance?
