Since the beginning of my depression I've found everything to be cute..like baby cute. Even things that people never associate with being adorable, like spiders or even someone eating cereal. Watching others experience happiness is possibly one of the cutest things, I have told someone that I think its cute watching other people be happy. She said that was possibly one of the most depressing things she had ever heard..
Thanks for this!

That is strange to me. Finding enjoyment seeing other people enjoying themselves doesn't seem strange to me.

Konrad Lorenz argued in 1949 that infantile features triggered nurturing responses in adults and that this was an evolutionary adaptation which helped ensure that adults cared for their children, ultimately securing the survival of the species.

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuteness

Sounds like an identification with/wish to be cared for to me.
