My mind is warped. I have some really disturbing thoughts sometimes. They exist for a second and then they're gone, like fireworks. But afterwards I'm left thinking Why did I think that ? Where did that come from?

How can I stop or control these thoughts ?

Don't have an answer but just so you know you aren't alone, I have the same issue.
Thanks for this!

I have disturbing thoughts a lot that are things I think about but would not in reality do. They are very upsetting and sometimes they are incredibly bad, bad things. My pdoc says they are a part of ocd (compulsive thoughts). I also have an extremely overactive imagination that I think plays into this. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm bipolar so I already deal with racing thoughts. Perhaps this is your problem? Maybe you could talk to your doc about them?

Like others here I can relate to disturbing thoughts. They can really be debilitating. I am sorry you have them too.

Consulting professions for a medical - psychological explaination about why they happen can provide you with valuable insight.

Meanwhile you may find it useful to at least not entertain them as a way of controlling them. Let them exit without giving them any more air time. Acknowledge them when they happen. Assess them as warped and they try to counter them with a rationale thought that exposes them as false so that you can move forward clean of their poison.

Wishing you well.
