I wanna heal, I wanna feel Like Im close to something real I wanna find something ive wanted all along Somewhere I belong? he who does not feel me is not real to me Therefore he doesn't exist So poof...vamoose you sob What's wrong with the world, mama People livin' like they ain't got no mamas I think the whole world addicted to the drama Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma And to discriminate only generates hate And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars? i can really use a wish right now. i'm not afraid to take a stand Everybody come take my hand We'll walk this road together, through the storm Whatever weather, cold or warm Just let you know that, you're not alone Holla if you feel that you've been down the same road I'mma be what I set out to be, without a doubt undoubtedly And all those who look down on me I'm tearing down your balcony |

Weird? I don't know, but I do that too sometimes.
I do it cause it makes me feel connected to myself and the world, like no one but this song and the person who made it, understands how I feel right now, so instead of leaving my mind and going crazy, I listen to it... and gain this feeling of understanding that I am not so alone.

I'm not sure if it's weird, but if it is I'm guilty of it too!
Maybe because it's nice for me to be able to relate with something that understands what I'm going through? Because I don't like talking to anybody about how I'm feeling so the music is sometimes a good substitute. However, for me it's a negative coping mechanism because the negative feelings just stay longer and longer. So when I have the strength, I PURPOSELY switch to positive or even neutral music to rid myself of negative thoughts/feelings. |

i do that as well..i have listened to the same song over and over for hours and hours,,,seems weird now,but if i think about it,,it feels like the song made me feel understood and not alone and empowered by that..maybe we arent the ones so messed up,,the world is a mess and if you dont look, act, speak a certain way then we are weak...i still love listening to the song but i do not allow myself to hear it for so long,,feels like i wasted the time after so long because i am in that state and escaping reality...i just wanted to say i understand where your coming from,,,have a better day

There are some who say that music is profoundly powerful. Sound is profoundly powerful. words are also more powerful when accompanied by sound vibration. So it can be very healing. Or cause imbalance, as the case may be. I think that if we gravitate to music that matches where we are, but has some clarity in it, can be a good thing. I think it can even be healing. I really can understand why you are gravitating to that song D&D. It might match where you are now. Whomever wrote the song, I think sees some real truths about how many are living in the world in not a very good way. Sounds like the person who wrote the song doesnt have thick blinders on. that can be painful. It hurts to see the imbalances in the world caused by hatred etc.
can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars? i can really use a wish right now. i'm not afraid to take a stand Everybody come take my hand We'll walk this road together, through the storm Whatever weather, cold or warm Just let you know that, you're not alone As I said, sometimes listening to music that matches were we are, and also holds some kind of comfort as above, can really be healing !!!! ![]() ![]() |

I do it too
![]() I tend to let something play itself out - i.e. I listen to it until I'm either really tired of hearing it or my mood has changed altogether. I find music very theraputic and I also listen closely to the lyrics. To the OP I find a lot of empathy in Eminem's words too, he's clearly been through a lot despite being as famous as he is and its nice to see someone in such a position being honest about their addictions and emotions. |

I do it too, i think in some ways it's natural and can even be healing. I completely agree with Sunrisesunset on that! Usually mine are Christian-based pop songs that should encourage me and often they do but sometimes I think to myself "will I EVER attain that?" That's when I turn it off!

Music is art. It's meant to speak to us. Sometimes it expresses feelings we are having difficulty clarifying. When this happens to me, I keep listening until I understand what this music is trying to communicate to me. It can be very healing. At any rate, if it's what you need right now, why not? It makes you sad? What if these feelings of sadness have been supressed by you and subconsciously you know you need to get them out? What if it gets you in touch with yourself. Let the music do what it's meant to do for you. I'm sure the artist would be gratified to know it touched your life in this way. When the song has done what it's there to do, you'll listen to something else.

It might help to know exactly what it is that the song is trying to say to you. Sometimes I have done the smae thing, only to realize that what the song releases in me isn't exactly the words being sung, but something else in their tone, the shading of the music, the feelings that rise up when i hear a song that might be relatedto something else.
If you feel like it is digging you into a hole, then switch deliberately to something else. If you feel sad, but somehow soothed, as i sometimes do with such music, then don't worry and let the music do its work! Hope things start looking up. HUGGGS |
