Just thinking about the devastation from Katrina, and other places suffereing from whatever else in the US.

Then you have some monster of a man Phelps who has his clan out protesting that God Hates Americans in front of a church in TN where funerals were going on for fallen war veterans. The "Rev" Phelps contends that soldiers are being killed in Iraq because they are protecting a country that harbors gays.
How bout we send the good man Phelps to Iraq and see if things change?

I am just angry. I don't want to live on this earth to begin with because of my own past, my insecurities, my childhood hurts, my self loathing feelings.
And then...you wake up and it is to this in the news.
Am I supposed to feel better that I wasn't a victim of Katrina? Am I suppose to feel guilty that I don't want to be here and yet I wasn't one of those who lost everything or even life because of a Hurricane?
And, I am a lesbian. Should I fear Phelps and people like him so that living in America has become NON free for me?

My head is twisted in it's own right.
And just when I am trying to figure out coping skills and survival skills to see another day....this is what the day brings.

Hey, I am right behind you. But I don't want to get political so I will just say I am sorry you are feeling so much of the world's pain on your shoulders right now. It is totally sad and overwhelming.

i understand your feelings. i am devastated over Katrina. the news stories are sad, beyond belief. i cannot imagine the damage. my house flooded, up to my waist, several years ago and you cannot imagine how damaging water is. but this has WASHED homes away...and businesses. and people are looting businesses. it's all too sad.

the lunatics that roam the universe are unfathomable to me. i have no idea why someone would picket a church where funerals are taking place. that is disgusting.

hang on, we're here for a purpose............xoxox pat

I have some freinds who have family down there and they have lost it all.. I feel sorry for them all..

And you are right Emmmy it is not as bad as the tsunami, but some people just do not know how to compare this with anything else.. Know my paper compared it to Hurricane "andrew" that is about right I think in damage at least..

i feel that even if one family is destroyed, that is a tragedy. and we aren't going to know, for a long time, how many families have been destroyed. i feel for everyone that's been affected and they are in my thoughts and prayers...

I feel so helpless.

A donation just doesn't seem enough.

And I can't even give blood. Just mad at some things and not sure where to post this...

I hear your pain, sorrow and frustration Sj ! I have a hard time looking at the news and devastation from Katrina. So sad ! As for that preacher - he is not speaking the truth, so please dont let that garbage he is spewing get to you........and I agree - he needs to go to Iraq ! Please keep focusing on YOU, and your healing process........perhaps watching the news isnt a good idea right now. I know many people who have their T's recommend staying clear of it, when things are so bad , and when u are working on your own stuff. Just a thought !
