The staff of the newsletter is always looking for ideas on how to improve the publication. It goes out not only to forum members, but also an additional 600+ registrants on the site.
If you have any ideas on new features, stories or such that you'd like to see in future editions of the newsletter, please, reply to this thread and let us know!! All ideas will be considered... And hey, for you budding writers out there who think they're not "good enough" to write for a regular publication, you may be underestimating yourself! PM me and we'll talk. Thanks! DocJohn

Have always loved the ideas a new publication offers "the world!" As I posted in response to the latest issue, graphics and color or different font would help me pay attention.
![]() <font color="blue"> As for articles, even though some items are available here on PC in the resources, maybe a more indepth explanation of the various diagnosis would be an ongoing column? Maybe a chart or ongoing, organized system for viewing symptoms/problems and possible "good" therapy modality used to help would work. Also, perhaps some scouting around for "success stories" about ppl who have "been there" .. not glazed over pollyana exerpts, but true vignettes of a single struggle overcome, would encourage even those who are acutely affected. <font color="green"> There are many sites and newsletters that focus on only one diagnosis which often allow lighthearted stories of one interaction of coping with the dx., or of an awkward or embarassing situation because of one.. short and cute... and I think sometimes including one of those would spruce up the newsletter. We need to be able to laugh and to know it's okay to get a break, however small, from our own symptoms. We all know that most people need to know others are going through the same frustrations, identify with another, and know they aren't alone in it. Can this be said too much? Small changes, as you well know ![]()

How about a small corner for whats in the news/legislation etc with regards to health care & mental health parity. Its a real problem for families when health care either doesn't cover mental health services at all or only very limited coverage. That often leaves families struggling financially to pay out of pocket.
There are steps people can take to address this issue such as vote yes for local and state inititives that provides mental health services, provide feedback to your company's benefits programs whenever you can asking for better coverage for mental health services, push back on schools to consider spending security dollars for mental health employees instead of more locks and metal detectors. I think that there are communities out there who are making differences - it would be good to hear about their efforts. |

Maybe even info on how and when to contact legislators? gg

How about offering resources for those people who do not know how and where to get help. They could be listed state by state. I think this would definitly encourage and make it easier for those people in need to seek help.
Just my 2 cents ![]() I think this kinda relates to Peanuts idea |

I like the idea of success stories too.. Is always a motivator when you read that someone has overcome. And how they have "overcome" is always helpful too...........
Oh.. and a topic that has been discussed here "Psychological Manipulation". It would be interesting for someone to write on this topic............... |

Someone recently asked about a trial of med in their area.. any way to incorporate THAT in a newsletter? Since it's widely read, any trial on psych meds anywhere would be interesing, imo.
