Thought I would pass this on, valuable for parents and most anyone to know about. I remember hearing of people doing this, especially teenagers. Some teens too made themselves pass out at malls cause they thought that was funny.

Sarah,

I saw the program on this that Dr Phil had on......I was shocked to hear that this was a real thing that was going on. It kinda reminds me of a Dr movie where the students were putting each other to death & then bringing them back just before the point of death.

This is all very scarry to think of the reality of the choking game....& how much brain damage there can be with keeping oxygen from the brain. Killing all those brain cells. A very horrible game to play.....& horrible to play around with someones life like that or even trusting someone to do that to yourself.

Thank you for posting this information. I had never heard about it before this last week.

Debbie

Wow! I never knew that this was going on! That's really scary. I also know that the game chubby bunny, where you try to beat other people by trying to cram as many marshmallows into your mouth as you can. Whoever has the most wins, at a camp in our state, a girl choked and died playing this game. Just thought I would make people aware of this dangerous game as well.

My 12-y/o son came home last night and said a kid fainted in health class, hit his face on the sink, and knocked out his two front teeth. OK, I figured health class, watching some birthing movie because they're in the sexual health portion right now, the kid got queasy and passed out.

Nope. The principal calls my ex this morning to say that boy, our son, and one other boy were playing the choking game. We still don't know all the details, if it happened in class or the bathroom. When my son said health class, I assumed he was in class, but wouldn't the teacher or other kids say something to stop it?

A middle school girl in Green Bay died from playing it at school. Our principal said he doesn't want to have to make that kind of call to parents. They aren't holding assemblies about it, because that just gives the kids instructions and ideas, so they have to wait until something happens and notify the individual families.

I thought my son was smart enough not to try something like this, but I guess not.

Gosh! I am 46 and use to play a similar game as a teen for the same reasons never thinking twice about the dangers of the game just the fun of it until today. Ours was prbly less likely someone falling and hitting their head cuz of the way it was done but all in the same (light bulb moment) wasn't exactly safe either when I look at it today. Geesh! Thanks for sharing! Got grandkids that may one day want to play the/a so called fun/cool game too if they haven't already.
