Christina,

The worst of it seems to be over. The sun is out right now, and my neighbor's cattle have returned to the top of the hill and hillside. Supposedly we are under a watch, however, until 10 p.m.

The good news is that I cleaned out one of our two big closets, which are our shelters, when the severe weather started. The bad news is that all the stuff is sitting in the middle of my living room. I'm going to try to toss at least most of it.

When we lived in our first house in Kansas, I would put all the cats in their carriers in our shelter, and then when it got dangerous my husband, and the two (at the time) dogs would get in the shelter too. My big St. Bernard, Molly, is the only one from my current group who went through those "drills" with us. When she saw the open closet door today (even though it's a different house) she started to go in.

I have to admit, it is stressful living here at times.

Thanks for your concern,

EJ

Hi Jane. Have you seen the movie "The Day After Tomorrow"? It depicts..what our weather might be like someday in the future. hopefully not. The special effects are terrific, but terrifying. Tornado Watches and Warnings

We must be going to have some storms here too. My dog is already acting up and its not thundering or lightening or raining yet. She can usually detect storms about an hour to two hours away sometimes. So we'll see how long it takes for this one to get here. I hate storms too. But I dont let it show as much anymore . For some weird reason I feel I have to be brave for her lol. In third grade my mom and I were in our station wagon and a funnel cloud went over us and rocked the wagon back and forth. I've become so I am prepared for the worst but I try not to let it get to me like it used to .

Hugz~

Hi EJ,

I was up quite early this morning and saw the severe weather alerts and report from your area - and was sending you my prayers and good wishes. Hope the worst of it has passed, and you and all of your furry friends are okay! Sorry about the scary weather...it's no fun. Tornado Watches and Warnings

Hope the day has gotten better after that point....sending you hugs and good thoughts...

Hugs,

My cousin was hit with a tornado this evening. Their garage is gone, most of their windows are broken, and their propane tank is missing. No injuries to her, her husband, her 3 daughters or the pets. Thank goodness.

The house down the street was leveled.

Glad everyone is safe.

Hi 1DayAtATime,

Oh no - I'm so sorry to hear of the damage at your cousin's home! That's awful! But of course the most important thing of all is that the people are safe...homes can be repaired and rebuilt so long as the people and animals are all safe, which is the most important thing of all. But still, I'm just so sorry to hear of it. It must have been so scary. I send my caring thoughts to them and to you.....

Take care,
ErinBear

Hi All,

The Kansas City area has had 15 hours of severe weather. We are in our third round of severe weather today. We are still under a tornado watch, and have had small hail two times today. There were a few pieces about ten minutes ago. The second round was around 6 p.m.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Bethy -

I've only lived in tornado country for seven going on eight years. I was getting psyched for tornado season, which typically starts in Spring, which is about 10 days away. But this year we are starting early. We had a cellar in our first home in Kansas, but do not have one here.

Can you share the state in which they live? Thankfully, they are all right.

The tornadoes in SW Missour were really bad too. We were up till after 4 a.m. Sunday night. There was so much lightening! The storm sirens went off almost continually all night and had my cat (and me) really stressed out. We didn't have any damage even though we live only a few miles from the airport which did have. Lots of tornadoes touched down in this area....and Spring hasn't even sprung yet! lol

We had tornado warnings here too. Rex had about $2800 damage to his car. Mainly hail and scratches where debris hit his car. He's to have it repaired on Monday. The tornado went right over his dad's apartment complex where Rex was at during the tornado. They have declared Benton County a state disaster area. I was freaking out and had a panic attack. But I'm ok now and glad my family and friends are safe.
