Today, for once it has been sunny. I live in England and it's cloudy most of the time. During the summer, it is sunny. Is it normal for me to feel happier when it's sunny? But when it's cloudy I feel a little down.

I think it's fairly normal. I like to joke and say that I'm a "solar powered person"

No, it is not. It is symptom of something, not sure of what.

J/K.

Of course it is! Shirley Manson is probably one of the few people who is only happy when it rains.

I think a lot of people it does help some just to be able to be outside more or just to see it around and it being warmer.

But it could also be a sign that a lightbox could help you if it's at all related to just having the sunlight on the skin.

I think it's pretty normal. Normal people don't burst out in song and dance with their umbrellas when it rains excessively. Unless they are being paid a lot to do it.

I would be one of the people who is happy when it's raining. Whenever someone says 'oh look how miserable it is today' I say 'are you kidding? This is great!'. I do hate the cold though. I used to actually get quite down when the sun came out 'weird i know', but since I went to california the sun can be rather nostalgic for me so I enjoy it more now.

Hello, happycheeks. If the sunshine makes your day better, enjoy it.

It's normal. You might also want to look up Seasonal Affective Disorder. Some people are more affected by the sunlight - this can give you an idea how much it can affect people! =)

"Pretty flowers need the sun. This applies to everyone. Life's worth living when nature's giving. Happiness to everyone, so lets go sunnin'."

A song that reminds me of this post.

It's sunny so much where I live.
Those cloudy grey days always pick me up.

Sure, it's cheerful for many and inspires your Sunny Disposition

It can also work the opposite. I feel more anxious and depressed when it's sunny and/or the middle of the day, and calmer in the morning and evening and on rainy days.
My therapist says it is about sunny and daylight representing social time, something I struggle with. She has heard of others who feel worse during the day/on sunny days.

Weird I guess.

I am scared of rain because I associate that with storms, and storms terrify me.

I really enjoy night time though. That's relaxing

I'm sorry to hear that you're scared of storms. Night time is relaxing. I like it better at night time.

One time, though, I was driving with my dad in the night. There was a thunder storm and we driving into the haze. It looked so beautiful when it lit the sky.

Actually, there are times the sun really huts my eyes, so rain doesn't always bug me. So there goes my previous post, but then, I don't dance much, umbrellas or no.

It's completely normal. Studies have been done that showed people are more active and generally in a better mood when it's brighter/warmer outside as opposed to the fall/winter months.
Everybody's emotions will change when the seasons do, it's human adaptation
