(Not sure this is the correct forum but didn't know where else to put it, sorry.)

So, today I am officially unemployed. I've had a great time at my old job but with all the sleep-ins and long hours I'm pretty run down. Lost my voice a month ago and it still hasn't come back! Doctor wanted to sign me off work but there was no way in H I could do that without getting stabbed in the back for it, so I've been soldiering on.

Start my new job on Monday and it is such a big step for me. Care Manager of my own large residential home, 36 beds and 26 staff and I'll be in charge! How I got the job I'll never know, it was a 2 and a half hour interview that included me doing a presentation! Apparently they could see that I am a 'people' Manager and keep telling me how wonderful I am. I hope I can live up to their expectations. Everything about the job sounds fantabulous! It's mainly 9 to 5, Monday to Friday. No sleep-ins. No double shifts and they even told me I can pop out anytime to go and see my dog! It all sounds too good to be true and too good for me! Being cynical, but there really must be a catch. I guess I'll find out soon.

So friends, please wish me luck and let me be the person they want me to be. I'll do my best of course.

Pegasus! Wow! What a windfall for you! You deserve it! That two and a half hour interview means they got to know you well enough to trust you, and to believe that you are the one person capable of handling and succeeding in a responsible position affecting many lives. I know your personal experiences will make you an even more compassionate person with an ideal temperament for seeing each person whose life you affect with care, concern and fairness.

Doing my best to speak from the canine perspective, this is a key benefit!

If and when you find "the catch", may it be nothing you can't handle. Success!

((((((((((( pegs ))))))))))))))

Take these next few days to rest up and get your voice back. Relax and take some much needed "me" time before starting the new job.

I'm sure you are anxious and nervous about this new position. I have no doubt that this will work out well for you my friend. I'm very excited for you and wish you tons and tons of success! You deserve it!

Terrific news!

Take a week or two to just manage day to day decisions and not change anything major at first (though I'm sure you'll see some things!) Don't be too chummy with anyone, as they will all try to side up to you and become your "pet".... be the manager.... hey, I'm not telling you anything you don't know.

Breathe.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone!

I popped in to see them on Thursday and ended up staying 3 hours! So far, they all seem really lovely. Off to get some shirts today as they have to order my suit. Looking forward to Monday and sorting out rotas!

Wow Pegasus!!

That sounds like a wonderful job! A lot of responsibility goes with the position, of course. That's why you have the nice benefits (of M-F, 8-5, etc). If the job is a comfortable fit, then the responsibility will be well-worth the effort.

Very best wishes & hugs to you Peg!
