Dear Friends,

In the spirit of sharing which I am trying to embrace, I have more news. I received my flu vaccine Friday. I guess in my weakened condition after having pneumonia, my body couldn’t handle it, so I came down with, you guessed it, the flu! Today I am starting to feel like a human being, but I’m so exhausted. I’ve slept and slept and then slept some more. My family Dr. can’t give me any more antibiotics because of the C. Diff. infection, so we have to muddle through this with decongestants and Tylenol.

My thyroid levels are very strange. One test is very, very low, which means I should be hyper. However, I’m so tired I can barely move, so nothing makes sense. She is running tests to check for thyroid antibodies. She is also checking for thyroid cancer. I also have some “lumps” under my arms. I had to call a surgeon today to make an appointment. He’ll decide if he wants to remove them, then biopsy or what. I have a past history so I can’t take any chances there.

Prayers and good thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jan

Good thoughts for you (((jan))) I think that you reacted to the shot it means you would have had an absolute terrible time if you had gotten the flu instead without it? Wondering why doctor is checking other stuff since you are so ill right now... seems to me nothing would be registering normal as it's fighting so much. I hope the lumps aren't anything. . . I often have them but mine always turn out to be from knots in the muscles and my PT works them out (ouch!)... maybe this time you can have this instead of anything worse?

Thanks for the update.. Struggles, Part Two

Jan, I have been following your saga and I am so sorry you are hurting. I also was a little confused by your saying your thyroid was low and you thought you should be hyper but you feel like crashing? My daughter's is low and she is on a replacement and part of the symptoms for her were severe exhaustion and always being cold. Just wondering. I hope you start feeling better. sick stinks.

Well, the pnuemonia was gone and I was feeling better. I just was still too weak to handle it, I guess. Ick.

I hope your Mom's ok.

You are in my constant thought and prayer. We've talked about this personally, but I want to say again that I can't imagine the time you must be going through being so ill for so long.

Please let us know of any way that we might be able to help you through this.

Love you,

KD

Boy are you right! Sick stinks! You couldn't have put it better!

Apparently there are different kinds of thyroid hormones. Too little of one makes you hyper. Mine is extremely low, but instead of being hyper, I'm so tired I feel like I'm exhausted all the time. So..... IDK!

I'll have more news soon, hopefully.

Hugs,

Jan

Jan,

I am so sorry you are having such a hard time with being ill....just makes everything else seem worse.

I have heard they have a shot for pnuemonia to keep you from getting it...I have a weekness for pnuemonia but have been afraid to get the shot because I too get the flu when I get a flu shot......afraid to take a chance with the pnuemonia.

I also would think that your test results may be off wack right now with your body fighting all the bugs you have running around inside of you.......hopefully when you are better the results will be different.

Just a thought.....but when I am sick with the flu, my lymph nodes get swollen from the infection.....I know there are lymph nodes under our arms.....maybe with luck, that is what is causing them to be enlarged.

Thinking good thought for you to get better soon,
~hugz~,
Debbie
