.........a quote I found today. I hope that it helps you to think and draw on your inner strengths to continue to move forward.

“The most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love and to be greater than our suffering.”

by: Ben Okri

I think there are times when each of us has been that authentic. I mean, we are all still here right? We all make it through another second, another minute, another hour, another day, another week, another month and another year.

For me, I have found that no matter how difficult a situation has been, how low the depression or anxiety may get me at times, my ability to create change and overcome what is eating at me and most of all, to give of myself to others daily, that has been my saving grace so to speak. So, I relate to this quote very deeply.

Does anyone else see it in themselves as well?

Thanks for this!

Thanks so much for posting this quote! Your right -- I am still here! and it has been almost a year since I logged in. I also like how you said to think and draw on your inner strengths and move forward. I will have to think long and hard about my inner strengths -- I know I have some -- I just have to figure out what they are.

I also appreciate how the quote says to give of myself to others daily. I have been thinking of how I can accomplish this for I think that giving to others will help me greatly. I do want to help people and would love to take advantage of that.

Thanks for a great quote! I'm going to post it so I can read it daily.

Thanks for sharing sabby.

I do believe I have the power to change no matter what circumstance there may be.

Hi and welcome back to PC!

I'm glad you liked the quote. Everyone has inner strengths and sometimes we forget we have them when everything seems to be awry in our worlds. They can be strengths that may not seem like much, but when remembering them and working with them, they can quickly gain in size!

Giving to others is a huge thing we can do. When we give to others, especially when there is nothing expected in return, we seem to get more out of it than what we've given. We also end up helping our self esteem and general mood. Who doesn't need and want those bennies???

Wishing you well as you explore!

You are so right Willcat! You DO have the power to change. Just remember that real change takes time and effort and sometimes there are starts and stops in our journey to figure out how to affect the change we desire. If it's worth doing, it's worth fighting for!

Wishing you well in your strive for change!

Sabby, thank you so much for sharing this quote. Sometimes when circumstances seem very difficult it helps alot to be reminded that we can adapt, change, and overcome the difficulties. I'm going to write this one down and hang it on my wall. Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm so glad you can relate to this slowinmi! You are so right, it is difficult at times when "in the moment" to remind ourselves that we do have the power!

Wishing you all the best hon!

I don't feel like just because I'm still breathing, alive, on this earth that I have overcome things. Yes, I survived this, but it's eating away at my brain still. I'm still dealing with it after it's over. Like the war, you may not be killed there, but you definitely will NOT be yourself when it's over. That's MY struggle. I know I can endure a lot, but the pain & stress that come FROM whatever you survived, I don't know how to get rid of that.

Hi (((((( emptybee15 ))))))

I'm so sorry you are struggling with the outcome of what you have had to endure. I understand that facing it, working through the emotions and feelings one has and very often the fear is so very difficult and it takes time.

I don't believe anyone ever gets rid of the memories and pain of what we've been through. What we can learn to do for ourselves though, is to find our own best healthy way of dealing with those things that are so painful. This helps us to have a better and more positive life than if we try to forget things or if we ignore things.

Life is a journey, made up of good things and bad. Through our journeys, we can change and work towards a more peaceful existence within ourselves. I hope you can find your way to that more peaceful existence very soon.....you deserve it!
