I wasn't quite sure where to post this. Every year at this time I stop watching tv because there is so much about 9/11 and it's still hard for me to be exposed to. I lost 2 very dear friends and a number of co-workers that day. I'm pretty sure the trauma was the trigger for my fibromyalgia.
While I can now talk about that day...and the following weeks, it's still hard for me to see the news coverage. This year is exceptionally bad because, with it being the 10 year anniversary, there's even more coverage. Most people don't understand. I wasn't THERE. I was 10 miles away. There wasn't anything I could do but help my students get through the day. My memories of that day are as vivid as though they happened yesterday. |

given other **** that happened later on, when the world went crazy beyond repair, 9-11 somehow seems like less deal for me... scary, isn't? We grew desanitazed to horrendous happenings somehow.
suicide bombings don't shock us anymore... and however 9-11 was terrible... there were other terrible events that happened since. And I guess the way it was used to get approval for Iraq war... it was reduced to propaganda of an event.

I dread the coverage of 9/11 every year, too, and am especially dreading this year's 10th-anniversary coverage. I was 50 miles south of DC, my husband was in DC but, thank God, he got home safely. So many others died a terrifying death.

9/11 will like the Kennedy assasination a generation earlier, be one of those profound moments when everyone who lived through the events will remember where they were and what they were doing when it happened. My best to you in this time as it passes, my hope is that as the event becomes further, the emotional wounds you suffered begin to heal. take care Tim |

I was typing too fast yesterday! I meant to say, too, new2ar, that I am very sorry for the loss of your friends. I did not personally know anyone who died.
I hope the anniversary is not too difficult for you this year. ![]()
