Hi,
When I was becoming unwell, I was philosophising, I now know that this is a hallmark of mental illness - trying to find answers - emotional, mental spiritual. But why ? I was trying to find out like a physicist priest doc the answers of my mental problems, the universe, religion, spirituality, everything and I didnt need to. The oppression of it was truly awful, but I would like to know why philosophising and mental illness is like that.

I don't think that asking questions of philosophical nature is sign of MI.

If so... than deities be with us.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in wanting to find answers and thinking about things. I think you are talking about 'ruminating' which is where you over-worry about things that you can't change.

Can you tell us how you found your thoughts to be oppressive?

In my case, the obsession with understanding how I had become so pathetic impeded me from doing things that could have made my life better. Sometimes the best thing one can do is put the questions aside and focus on making the changes we are capable of.

Why? Because you've learned unhealthy behaviors? Because some mental illnesses symptoms are worry and feelings of worthlessness?
