i get told often times "the world isn't black and white" i know there are grey areas but sometimes there are just too many grey areas.
This is coming up right now due to i got the book my t suggested to get and we'll be working out of for dbt. Well i'm reading and it has two sides. I'm finding most of them i'm like the middle. For example people can't be trusted and on the other side having someone i can trust is important.

Both i feel strong about. It's very very important to have some one to trust. But you can't trust all and i find in the world there are few you can truely trust. I know strive for the trust but the world just isn't that way. I wish we were all ok, safe and free to be one self but That's unreal.
Am i just wrong on this or do others see my dilema?
Ugh i want to succeed but idk, just like this example in the book being self sufficient is important. Being loved and cared for is important. I can't choose one or the other they both are important (well i guess today it is perhaps about equal, a few years ago i would had leaned towards self sufficient) lol idk. I guess i'll find out in a week what t says. Sorry for the ramble just a little confused.

sounds like interesting homework. your example to choose from re trust. i felt like
Quote:
people can't be trusted
is a blanket statement like either black or white.
Quote:
on the other side having someone i can trust is important.
it said someone, not all. so this is more the grey area statement which i view as healthy. if we trusted everyone we would not do so well in this world, imo.(black) on the other hand it's important to have trusting relationships. (grey) that is a positive statement.
i'm i on the right track?
i had a tendancy to view the world as either bad, black, or good, white. those extreme views made me unable to be tolerant in some cases and too approving in other cases. i still have to keep an eye on me, lol, cause it's easy to slide back into old beliefs-black/white, glass half full vs. glass half empty.
hope this helps.

I think you are right about not being able to trust all the people in the world and yet trusting people is important. Personally, I think it is okay to be in the middle gray area for most people but very close to just a few people. Face it, not everyone deserves to be trusted.

I hope I understand that right.... it is trying to get to the "*gray" thinking area rather than one extreme to the other? But I always try to see *gray lol

Sigh* I hope I do well with this- thanks Madisgram for explaining a little- I think I get it, maybe

Depressed Me- so true- Not everyone has gained the trust for some and maybe never will and that is just a fact of human life, right?
but like Madisgram pointed out, "Someone i can trust is important" - **someone**

I hope we all has someone to trust I know it took me a while to find the someone but none the less- found someone
