I hate being tired all the time!!! Gah!

I WANT to get stuff done, I am ENJOYING what I'm doing. I am HAPPY about what I'm doing. I'm getting enough sleep. I'm going to the gym to keep my mood up as per T's orders and my own. I'm eating healthy, and enough to the point if anything I'm GAINING weight not losing. I've even stayed clear of caffeine. I don't do drugs. My vitamin levels are great.

Doctor says it's normal but this is not enough energy to get through school let alone have energy to hang out with people after I was tired just 3 hours after waking up, and only survived on coffee for another few hours =/ then I had to muddle through the rest of the day. ho hum.

Wish I knew why...

Hi turquoisesea,

I can really relate. It sounds like you are doing a lot of good things for yourself, eating right and getting to the gym and getting good sleep. That is awesome. I know what you mean though, it is so frustrating. I have spent my whole life being tired. Just dragging, even tired after I wake up. I have also been to a lot of doctors to check for lyme disease, CFS, lupus, thyroid problems, anemia, etc. But they never really found anything. I can't remember do you take any meds for depression? Or if you do, have you thought about re-addressing what may or may not be working with your doc? I have had an unexpected experience in starting on that route a few months ago. (Even though my depression diagnosis came over four years ago). I don't know why, but for the first time I am finally feeling like I have a little more energy. I had to find the right med, because a few I tried actually put me in bed for the whole day - gak, which was the last thing I needed. But I settled on one and have had pretty good luck with it. I was amazed that the tiredness lifted with it because it had been so long that I hardly even noticed it anymore. It was a part of who I was... Anyway, just thought I'd share. Sending many supportive thoughts your way.

sea, your doc might want to run a complete thyroid profile. your symptoms may indicate your numbers are off. not a doc, but i've experienced the same. it was thyroid dysfunction in my case.
in any event i hope you can get this cleared up.

tired is my middle name! Its so hard to work a full day then be expected to make dinner, take the dog out, do laundry, grocery shopping, etc. I am honestly not doing all the good things you are doing. I agree with madisgram. Make sure your doctor knows how severe it is.

I went through the same thing about 6 years ago and found out it was fibromyalgia - even though I had been taking meds for lupus for 5 years..I think they are both in the same "family" of auto immune disorders but it is very hard to detect this kind of disorder. The exhaustion was so severe I could not even explain it to anyone. It's like I had run a marathon when I woke up each morning. I now take Cymbalta which helps with depression and the pain that also comes with this disorder. It helps but I have to say, I am still very tired most of the time. I hope you find out what it is because I really feel for you and what you are going through. Best of luck to you.
