Surely that's some kind of privacy violation? Can't you change company or something?

I think you're worrying too much. With your Screen Name, no one should know who you are. And after all, the rest of us post about our private affairs here and nothing has even happened.

Believe me, Doc John has insured that everyone is safe here.

Yes I agree with SeptemberMorn - but one must do what they need to do to enable themselves to survive from day to day.... so if being on here causes you to much stress and worry then by all means take a break and maybe come back when your nerves are more settled.

You can create a tunnel if you know how to use SSH. This is a link to how it works: SSH Tunnel

Aces, do you have any statistics about the probability of that happening?

And what's the worst that happens if it does? It sounds like a valid concern to prompt a good backup and security strategy, but whether anyone finds your posts here or not is VERY unlikely to destroy your life in a physical sense.

It does sound as though you are a fearful person, though. I goto go

Aces I goto go

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. You must be scared. All I can say is that your fear seems out of proportion with the risk. I hope you don't mind me saying that. I goto go

Yea i'm scared i mean i always knew the net isn't a private place but these people i'd never expect to come close...
The bad part is i love this board... Nice people... But i just can't risk it... I don't mind you saying that but i feel the risk is real big... If they own the router and can enter it who says they can't ask data of the internet conenction... All that stuf...
I think my mum is allready watching me and this makes it all real risky...

yes people can get access to where a person goes on the internet and get their personal information Thats why all computer classes say use fake names and never post such things as real time name, addresses and phone numbers. there is programs out there like spyware that if you enter a website where the owner of the website has it attached it can "follow the internet connections to your computer and gain access to you bank account and social security and so on. Every email and website you enter is stored on the hard drive even if you "delete" its still a part of the hard drive. just a couple weeks ago here in this city a guy took his comupter in for maitenance after deleating his porn stuff but when the technition was servicing his computer he found the porn traces and called the police and now that guy is sitting in jail for child porn and sexual abuse of minors. There are hackers that make it their job just to see how many computers they can gain access to and get peoples money and so on....

But there are great programs like Macafee -spyware protection, virus protection, fire wall and so on. as long as I make sure its activated and running before I enter any websites it stops any thing and anyone from getting in to my computer by virus, hacking or spyware. and I recieve notices of when other websites and people are trying to get access and it also tracks where that website or person trying to gain access is and asks if I want to forward the information on to the appropiate agencies for investigation.

People are going to be able to read posts on public message baords no matter what internet connection a person has but with macafee I know I am safe so I don't worry about it.

Also you might want to check to see if this fear could be related to you're mental health diagnosis? Some disorders have symptoms of paranoia and feelings that people are out to get them.

Sorry to hear that you are feeling so unsafe and violated right now. Hopefully you can find a way to get past all this and return to us in the future. Good luck.

I know the fear you are experiencing... I had to make a decison for my own self in the matter also. My phone is often (illegally) tapped by the insurance company who pays my disability. By the time I call the phone company (even from a cell phone) they notice the impedance change and drop the tap... all via microwave now I think...

They can, when on my line, see everything I write, hear anything I say. I had to decide I can't live with the fear... they can deal with what I go through, they're looking for something to be able to quit covering me, and since there isn't anything... big deal.

Once in a while it overwhelms me. My friend thinks they have bugged my home, maybe even with video (she was with me when we came back from a trip and things were awry.) I purposely go naked sometimes just to "bug" them! lol

It's a horrible thing. I, for one, can't do anything about it. I wish I could.

If you can change how you get online, then do. I'm sure you have more of a life than I do, and may need the anonyminity (now and in future.) Take care of yourself... I hope you can find a way to come and feel safe. TC

I dunno what i ever did but people do seem to have a strange more then normal intrest level in me...

Sky that's really horrible I goto go I goto go
I think i'm tapped to... And no i do not have much more of an life then you do... Mean worrie is to keep everything away from the old parents...

Anyway yes i relise i'm here again... I just came to check up if i was deleted... I'll stay a half hour or so now and then i won't ever be back i think...
I've been trying to surf anonymously and the program i've got isn't to good... Plus i can't seem to find a program that also offers url encryption...

I'm not sure whether any of us received a PM about you being deleted. If you still want to, then send a PM to Kimmydawn or JustBen. They can probably take care of it within a day.

Good luck, Aces. I will miss your posts I goto go

I did pm DocJohn on the matter but i've send a second pm to clear things up hopefully he reads that one first...

Anyway sorry for the mess... i'm still a bit suspicous on posting but i think it's okay
