How do i know if i really have mental issues before going tho the doctor? I was molested by family members at a young age. I had to raise my younger brothers on my own, I dropped from school because I was pregnant and we are married and still together with 4 girls ages 10, 14, 20 and 23. I was 15 when I had the first. I was into drinking and drugs from 10-14. My husband is now disabled with Epilepsy and Degerative Disk Disease in his neck. I have pains that come and go but seems there may not really be pain there just in my head, I am the one that does everything around the house because my husband just cant do much anymore before having a seizure I am feeling like I am depressed.. my 20 yr old was diagnosed probably BPD and it may have come from a parent which this is what I though I may have. HELP!!!

Hugs to you. You have and are still dealing with a lot.

It appears as though you suspect you have mental health issues, but it is important that you see a doctor and get a thorough physical and mental health check. Diagnosing ourselves can lead us down the wrong path.

Depression as a result from the stuff in our lives is not uncommon and can be treated.

Please consider taking the time to take care of yourself - with the first step being a consultation with a doctor you trust.

Your life has certainly not been easy. As Leo says, get a physical and talk to your medical doctor about whether he thinks you could benefit from seeing a psychiatrist or what his opinion is of your mental state. Being depressed because we have a really hard life is a little like being sad and mourning when someone we love dies; it cannot necessarily be helped by medicine.

I agee, you have had to be strong for your family for a long time. See a Dr and ask for some counseling so you can get some emotional support. You have a lot on your plate. If it is ok to say this here, (I am brand new) ask God to help you. I apologize if it is not ok to say, but I hope you do it anyway. I will add you to my prayer list.
