I now have insurance through work, so I cant use the community MHMR clinic anymore. I am now having to find another psychiatrist. I'm trying to see one before the end of the year so I can possibly get refills that way I wont have to meet my deductible like right away in Jan. Anyways, can anyone tell me how do go about finding a new pdoc? I have one in mind, he was my doctor in hospital, and I really liked him. But another question comes to mind, do they usually refer you to a therapist? Or do I need to be looking for one on my own? Any help would be appreciated, I have all weekend to think about this...

AngelHeart, it's been my experience that your primary doctor can make a recommendation for a psychiatrist/therapist. Gotta question? Well a couple questions...

BTW, welcome to the community. Gotta question? Well a couple questions...

Hi Angelheart (cool name BTW Gotta question? Well a couple questions...)

My dear September is very correct, your primary, or family dcotor can refer you. This is necessary if you have a HMO. If you have a PPO, you can choose any pdoc you like, at least you can with all the PPOs I've seen.

Hope you're doing OK.

Well thanks bp, someone really special picked that name out for me :-)

I have PPO and I've already gone to the website and the pdoc I plan to start seeing is on the list.

Thanks for the reply,

~Angelheart

most pdocs will refer you to a thearpist, and if you need your pills refilled your pdoc can do that for you. I do not have to go to my thearpist to get that done.. i just get it all done with my Pdoc..

good luck
