First, just want to say thanks for all who write here. Dont write often, but read. just doing this helps bundles. Lets me know there is lots of support from all of you. Thanks.

Does anyone know a link or where I can find a copy of the 12 steps that pretain to working on issues dealing with onselves? everything I find is AA or NA. I am thinking of this for all of us to work on, both seperatly and as a group thing to help us each sorta get to know, forgive and except each of us?

Thanks

I really appreciate how safe and supportive this forum is also.

I don't know of any good links for what you are looking for, hmm.......I do know there are 12 step style groups that focus on emotions, I think there is a Depression Anonymous and also an Emotions Anonymous, something like that. Worth doing a google search on. I think there is one on Chronic Illness too.

And we could also invent our own mix! couple questions please

We could brainstorm out a bunch of ideas on what we want the themes to be, then narrow it down and focus.

I'm thinking there are manatees involved too. couple questions please

For instance, maybe we want an agreement about safety here, about how we agree to focus on safe and compassionate support. We can all think and even write on what this means to us.

We can discuss how we can be good to each other.

An ongoing thread could be initiated on what works for us during difficult times.

You know, one idea too along the lines of what you are proposing would be to eventually come up with our own faqs (frequently asked questions).

Lots of possibilities!

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post">

Could even start with this, we each could do a brief intro, write something about our thoughts on forgiveness and acceptance.

I have been actively researching DID since 2001. I wish there was a 12 step for us but have found nothing yet. What helped me was the book (among many others - Amongst Ourselves by Dr. Tracy Alderman and Karen Marshall, Nancy J. Napiers books getting through the Day and Recreating Yourself and working with my therapist and many professionals in the field across the United States in putting together a custom made 24/7 therapy program specifically geared to what I need. That therapy program includes - Art therapy(Drawing, painting, clay, craft projects), Relaxation therapy (learning relaxation techniques and using them, grounding techniques), Writing therapy (journaling, writing my autobiography, putting my poems together into book form) among other things ... By working with my therapist researching and so on I was able to basically cram 10 years of therapy work into three years (and I continue to use this program now) You can find more details about me and my therapy program on the NAMI website. I post in the living with a personality disorder forum and my handle is katherine there. There is a resource list I posted in my thread subject line DID there and it is also posted here. These books, websites and so on are some of the many things my therapist found and used. Know that they are not listed in alphabetical order just as they appeared in my journals. I also did not separate them into whether or not my therapist and I agreed with them that way people here and on NAMI can make up their own minds based on what they are looking for and need. You can also find information through your public library, college librarys, and by contacting professionals in the field, and survivors too. If you are in therapy your therapist may know of groups in your area that might also help. Good luck

CODA which is for co-dependancy is closest I know of. I went to treatment and without knowing DID saw and heard outwardly other part of me. I put it off cuz they always talked of the child within and well looking in the mirror one day and seeing the little girl and sitting in group and another voice coming out of my mouth well figured that must be that child within they are talking about. LOL!!!! Little did they or I know at the time. Interested to see if there are any other out there. I know of AA,NA,SA,EA,ACOA,ALONON, CODA personally ACOA and ALONON went very few times for I always felt out of place being the alcoholic addict.
srry hope not babbleing too much.

Go to Co-Dependants Anonymouse Home Page. I tried doing the link here but didn't work. Not sure why.
