The feelings have returned again, to the point where I'm thinking some sort of equalization of the genders needs to be made a national priority. Obviously this won't happen, but I'm really feeling inferior right now.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? Give males more power affirmatelly? Or castrate 'em?

You are from the UK, right? Sorry, you have discrimation problems... but they do not concern white males.

Neither.

No, I'm from Australia. I recognize that other discrimination problems exist, but also that this is one of them. It's not simply discrimination that concerns me, i wish that was it. I get depressed and concerned over a seemingly inferior male biology, at least in some aspects.

in fact is a big reason for my depression

should i have to be ashamed of how i look for others to judge the kind of person i am?

(Bit of a bump here I know)

If I'm honest, I have never felt any inferiority complexes about my race (I'm white), it's just something I never think of. I have briefly wondered what it's like to be other races, like black or something, but nothing which occupied my mind.

However I do feel deep down that as a female I'm somewhat classed as inferior to males (if not consciously then subconsciously), when I was a child and in my early teens I used to believe I was born the wrong sex and wanted to be a boy because I was a tomboy, I suppose this manifested in my young teenage years when I actually pretended to be a boy on an online game for nearly 3 years but that's another story completely. I always felt it was unfair that females had to be physically weaker and smaller than males (generally speaking) and that women had very few rights up until the 20th century. When you look at history all the greatest scientists, engineers, inventors, leaders, philosophers, entrepreneurs, richest, etc etc have been male, and yes there are lots of great females who have succeeded well and I believe there will be more in the future, but vast majority are men and probably always will be. I've always felt men have had the better deal when it comes to what is socially acceptable. Hair on men is encouraged, with women if they have any body hair they are freaks. An unhygienic man will not get as harshly criticised as an unhygienic woman. A man who enjoys playing the field isn't frowned upon, but a woman who does is deemed a "slut" or a "*****". You get the picture.

Men do have the short end of the stick in some areas I acknowledge that, but IMO, women are much worse off. Another thing I dislike is how feminism has negative connotations now, more than any other civil rights movement, feminism has been unfairly blamed on other areas in society "going down hill" (such as education) when most feminists simply seek equal rights, including social rights with men, somehow there's lots of people out there who think feminists are merely now a band of man-hating lesbian lunatics who are out to take over society and oppress or something. I am completely against "positive discrimination" BTW. But generally nowadays I guess I've given up caring and think eh it's life, life's a ***** and all that.

I agree with you for the most part. I'm no feminist, really. I DO believe that women should get paid the same wage as men for doing the SAME job -- as long as they don't have to ask the men to help them lift heavy objects, etc. They have to do the SAME job!!!

But darn it, I'd love to be able to run around town in bib-overalls, without doing my hair, and wear an old T-shirt and not have all the women in town gossiping about how I must be a skank or some nasty HO or hillbilly who doesn't feed her kids. Who wants to dress up to just get a loaf of bread??

Sure is a double standard, isn't there? They don't talk about men like that.
Thanks for this!

Generalities don't carry much/any weigh with me. Granted, white men--American Christian while men--seem to have it made ... seem being the operative word. If you're a middle or lower class American Christian white man, then you might well not be and may never be worth much.

What you need to be is upper class--and the more upper upper class you are, the less it matters what else you are. Sadly, today's world judges us by what we have and who we can buy. Who we are, specifically or in the abstract, matters less almost hourly.

I'm not saying that any one race/religion/etc ought to be judged above another ... only that the issue itself is vanishing because it is being overtaken by a person's economic worth. Back to dowries ...

Thanks for your post, not that this is aimed at you (because I don't know your exact beliefs), but your sentence there has highlighted another thing which kind of bothers me re: feminism. I see a lot of people (both male and female) who will say things like "well I am no feminist, but I support equal rights between men and women" when they are actually, by Dictionary definition, the same thing, just because of the negative connotations I highlighted in my post about feminists being all radical, lesbian, man-hating lunatics who burn their bras and throw acid in the face of men or something and seek to oppress men, when it's simply not the case.

fem·i·nist  [fem-uh-nist] Show IPA
adjective Sometimes, fem·i·nis·tic .
1.
advocating social, political, legal, and economic rights for women equal to those of men.
noun
2.
an advocate of such rights.
But there is a problem with some women who don't help themselves I agree, by not doing their fair share. I just think men should stop taking on a womans load, though as well.

The problem is the word 'feminist' isn't an all-inclusive one.

You can quit posting and coming here, Illegal Toilet--no reason to start shouting orders to everyone.
Let's at least try to be tolerant and let folks have their say.

It's a difficult topic to attempt to discuss. Many of us have been hit by this one, sometimes more than once.

In my experience, the thought processes and the manner of communication are so different between the sexes I am shocked when any relationship appears to be working.

Yeah, di meliora, I sure agree with that--seems far greater a difference than btw any races or generations or other "divides." How could a relationship there ever work??!

Do I detect a doubt in your phrase "appears to be working"?

If you want this thread closed or deleted you can - 1. click on the report button (looks like this Do you every think or worry that your race or gender is the inferior one?) under the name and type you want it closed or 2. PM a moderator or administrator...this may take a little longer. If you just state this on a post, it won't likely be seen.
