Or maybe 'invisible' is the wrong word. Does anyone else ever feel as though they're not even worth enough to acknowledge?

I've seen people that had that negative feeling for themselves...no person is unworthy and if you are alive, you have a purpose. I Wish you kinder thoughts of yourself.
hugs, bj

CluelessBlonde, Oh my I can relate to that feeling 100%. I feel as if I have no voice and if my voice is heard it is ignored anyway and that nothing I have to say is important. Know you are not alone on this one

I don't even feel alive or dead inside anymore, i might as well not be here. No words of wisdom sadly, sending hugs though (if ok) ![]() |

Yes, quite often I do... I thought I finally got my mom to understand me and accept my being Goth but she came home and criticized me, I have never felt so worthless and useless in my life, and like no one in the world loved me

Invisible seems like the right word to me. Sometimes random people even try to walk right through the space I happen to be standing in. I feel like asking if they do it because they can't see me, or if they just expect me to move, or if they simply don't care that if they do hit me it will also bump them. For my part it is rarely the sort of person I would want to come into contact with.

i'm invisible until someone decides that they don't like me and report me to someone..... whenever i speak, no-one listens, when i suggest something or say something, if it isn't ignores, people glance at each other and kind of smirk at me. I'm sick of this but i'm too scared to speak up even more. I'm terrified of voicing myself. I know exactly how you feel... :/

Yes. Recently I've felt that even my friends don't listen to me. Though I try to use the rational part of my brain to convince me otherwise. Normally, over the course of my life, I wouldn't care because I rarely had friends and didn't want to be listened to at all.
But over the past year I've grown very close to a few people, and I've said more than I probably have in the rest of my life. And feeling like they haven't been listening lately is frustrating because this has been the only period of my life I felt anyone has listened to me. Or, that I've ever tried to get people to listen. |

This is me all the time. I feel so invisible. It's like no one notices me, especially at school. It's not like I want people to notice me. But sometimes it gets annoying and frustrating. Like when your raising your hand in class and your teacher keeps walking past you like he/she doesn't see you with your hand up in the air. That happens to me all the time.

Thank you to everyone who read/posted. I'm grateful for the support but very sorry for those of you who also feel invisible at times. I can assure you all that *I* see you and hear you and that you matter.
Hugs to all. ![]() ![]() |

I too am struggling with this. That's why I don't do well in group therapy. I'm afraid to speak up.

Yes. And thank you for starting this thread!
![]() I was contemplating starting one on this issue also, but was thinking in terms of people stating specific things that happen that make them feel invisible. Trite though it might sound, a full week went by at work before someone looked at me long enough to ask if I had gotten my hair cut. Yeah, I did - a week ago... It not only hurt that no one else at work noticed, but reinforced my belief that I really am invisible... makes me question if my efforts at work are also invisible.

I don't know, Leo. I think sometimes that people are just so wrapped up in their own situations that they don't really notice what's going on with others. I don't think that means that they don't SEE us. It just means that they're not FOCUSED on us.
That sometimes feels personal (see my original post) but on good days, like today, I know that it's not personal at all. Just as sometimes we're too self-absorbed to really look at another person, other people are too. There's a woman that I work with here in my office and I couldn't tell you when the last time was that she got her haircut. It must have been fairly recently because it looks very well kept, but I haven't noticed from one day to the next. That doesn't mean that I don't see her or care about her because I do. I just don't notice her hair. ![]() Big hugs to you. ![]() |
