Really really cheap used laptops can be found on ebay or other places on the net.

If everyone who broke something was considered a loser well, we'd ALL be losers. Accidents happen, don't be hard on yourself! I hope you are able to find a replacement laptop soon.

I am so sorry you aren't able to use your laptop. I know you are strapped for cash right now. Does a local library have computers you could use? Then you could get on for a little bit. Then you could look into cheap replacements. Check if your area has a freecycle.com. The one around me has people asking about computers and other people replying (and they are free- hence the name).

freecycle is great...they have it near me too..you do have to donate something 1st by me but that's easily solved. i wish everyone knew about it...

even check computer repair shops..i am using a rehabbed hard drive & computer that i got for $200 after my original crashed & burned.

In my area you don't have to donate first, they just ask that you donate something at some point.

so I spent 7 hours yesterday taking it completely apart and cleaning it out. the heat sink was covered in dust, so no wonder it was overheating and shutting down. It's working now, all except for the touchpad. my fiance is bringing over a mouse for me, so all should be well in about two hours.

A special thanks to those that hung out with me in the Lobby chat room last night because I couldn't switch rooms. You are all awesome!
