Hi All,

A white-tail doe was grazing in our back meadow earlier this evening. Her coat has tranformed from a reddish, golden color in the fall, to dark brown fur, with black, more recently, which provides her perfect camaflouge against the bare, brownish, black tree limbs and trunks.

Our largest cat, Snuggles, was in the same field with her. She noticed him and curiousity prevailed and she kept moving closer and closer to him. While she was behaving in a gentle manner, Snuggles evidently became intimidated by her size. He lunged at her twice, trying to back her off, but she persisted. So he finally lunged at her and started chasing her across the field. Pretty funny seeing a cat chasing a deer. Snuggles is really fast, and wasn't too far behind her.

I just love these funny stories where little critters think they are so big I will go after something that could just step on them & squish them.

I had a similar thing at the ranch where my dog found a mouse that saw him & ran into the pipe coral pipe. My dog went to where the mouse went into the pipe & dug & dug to try & get the mouse out. About 1/2 hour later, we had been doing some other things & came back to my horses coral. The mouse was outside of the pipe & as my dog walked toward the mouse, the mouse started to run at my dog....I have ever seen my dog run so fast the other way.....don't know what he thought the mouse would do to him, but he sure didn't like it when the shoe was on the other foot.......

I love watching our critters just acting naturally & seeing the crazy things they do.......sometimes I think they think they are 100 X the size of the huge thing they are chasing....then again, sometimes they see themselves as 100 X smaller & freek out. Sure leaves for some fun things to watch.

I must say, Snuggles is one tough kitty (mountain lion?) That had to have been a great picture to laugh at......isn't is sad that when the funniest things happen, we don't have our movie cameras.

Debbie -

I just like making memories -- keeps me sharp. Don't need a movie camera -- more private this way.

Snuggles is beautiful. He's about a foot tall, and two feet long. He was wonderful tiger stripes and leopard spots. His tail is long, and typically is curved about six inches at the end, and he has a wonderful round head. I think Snuggles knew he was smaller than the deer, and decided he was going to take control of the situation. I think he just out-foxed the doe.

Thank you for sharing your mouse and dog story.

Hugs,

EJ

EJ,

Sounds like Snuggles has many experiences that will keep you laughing for a long time. He sounds like quite a little tiger/leopard.....just in a smaller body with a mind that is as big as those bigger cats....It is funny to watch the little guys who know they are huge & can take on anything no matter the size. What a toughy....lol.

Snuggles sounds gorgeous. Any chance you can get a picture of him put in the gallery?

One of my cats likes to stalk broccoli. Cat Chasing Deer If we're eating any of it raw, he'll bat a piece out of the bowl and start hunting it down.

Spring is in the air outside my kitchen window!

As I was looking outside my kitchen window...I noticed two Sparrow birds rolling around on the ground together. At first, I thought they were fighting...I was going to tap on the window to startle them. Then I thought they must be trying to make babies (sorry I dont know a polite way to say it). After about 2 minutes one of the birds took off and the other bird just stood there.

Do you think it was the male or the female who flew off first?

We had two mallard ducks (a male and a female) land in one of our ponds today.

I think it was the female bird...I didnt think it was very romantic to be tossed about in the dirt and have her neck pecked with the other bird's beck! There were no candles, romantic music,...good on that female bird for leaving!

Doberman Pincher Story....

My doberman pincher was sleeping very peacefully on the couch one day as he always did. He was curled up in a ball having a good nap. He "passed wind" and startled himself awake! It was a rather loud "wind passing" sound...He moved his nose very quickly towards his back end...his eyes looked like they were crossed he was so shocked! ...kinda like this >>> Cat Chasing Deer

Aren't are pets just great!!!

I got three kisses on the face from my baby St. Bernard, Baby Girl, when I came home from teaching yesterday. They just know how to make you feel appreciated.

Oh, go ahead and brag, I got toilet paper strewn through the house and currently daisey is eating the lid to the trash can in my van. They are all around me near or in my bed. My little 10 pound oldest dog, first dog now that others were poisoned is keeping the big guys at 40 pounds in line telling them I AM HERS. And I am. And I want to be theirs also. She is my special friend who sees my eyes and knows.

Wisewoman -

I'm sorry for bragging. I'm just sharing the best part of my life right now. Thanks for sharing your Daisy story. My big St. Bernard, Molly, just went under my desk. She hasn't done that much since she was little.

It's amazing how our pets can read our eyes. I struggle to share myself fairly among my dogs too.

Hugs,

EJ
