I feel so much rage brewing up inside me. It is so frustrating because I can't do anything with it. I have to restrain myself... I feel like the Prozac I'm taking might be doing this, but I don't want to stop it and end up depressed again. I don't even know where this post belongs. Does anyone know what helps with this? My doctors REFUSE to give me any benzos, even though I made it quite clear I need them. GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I confess I know nothing about meds, but I have a pretty bad temper myself, and this is usually how I try to deal with it:

1) Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and try to picture a calming scene

2) Take a piece of paper and write down everything that makes you mad, why it pisses you off, and why you are so much better than everything and everyone on that list.

3) If you're still mad when you're done writing, take the paper and crumble it into a ball or tear it into pieces.

4) If none of that works, take a walk and get some exercise. Sometimes channeling your energy toward something else will help you.

For what it's worth, that stuff usually helps me. I know that rage can be a nasty feeling, and I wish you luck in dealing with it.
Thanks for this!

I had the same reaction on prozac now Im taking a med combo of antidepressants.. not of the benzo class.. Still SSRI's but with less residual affects.

Prozac is an SSRI with some SSRI's you cant mix benzos. if I remember right for most if not all people mixing prozac (an SSRI) with a benzodiazepine (Benzo's) product is very dangerous, causes things like heart palpatations, heart attacks, suicide, cancer and other health related and sometime life threatening issues.

suggestion - talk with your treatment provider. theres probably a good reason why they are refusing the benzo class of meds for you based on your physical and mental health records.. and maybe you and your treatment providers can find another medication that is in the SSRI's that will have less problems than the prozac for you.
Thanks for this!

Punch a pillow several times and shout at it.

As regards medications, they can actually exacerbate anger and aggression, all depending on what kind. Benzos can help tranquillize your mood, but they can also be very addictive.
