BP!!! Are you okay???

What a roller coaster ride!! It just went... and went... and went!!

I understand the earthquake was felt in the Bay Area! Where are you??

Had trouble with the phone lines, too, so I hope you can get on really quick and let us know how it was up there! WOW!!! BP????

Here, it just rolled, first one way and then the other. Didn't hear the house rattling... just one creak, thank goodness!! Nothing like the Northridge Earthquake here.

Hope you are okay!

Tomi,

Yeah, I'm fine. I was at the optometrist's (sp?) office when it hit, and no one there even noticed. My wife was out shopping with my daughter and they both felt it pretty good. I think I'm just one of those typical Californians that shrug off earthquakes. I mean, you can stock up on water, canned foods, batteries & flashlights, things like that, but how do you prepare for something as devastating as an earthquake? The last one to scare me was the one in "89". That one scared the living bejeezus out of me. I had driven across the top of the Cypress structure about 20 minutes before it collapsed. I was a different person for months after that.

I'm glad to hear that you're OK. I think kvin lives in my area (not really sure, but I think he's mentioned it before), so I hope he'll check in too. I'm about 30-35 miles east of San Francisco.

With a quake this big it's likely there will be some aftershocks. Let stay in touch, OK? And thanks for being worried about me, I would have checked in sooner, but I've been running errands. At least I'm on vacation...WOW!!! BP????

Kvinneakt and I are both in Portland, Oregon (same faultline, though) and at least I didn't feel anything. Except sadness when I read about the two women who were killed, something like 46 injured, and the tons of damage.

Glad you guys are ok!

We are ALL going to be a-ok!

As low and rolling as it was felt here, I was hoping there wouldn't be any serious damage anywhere. It's really sad when it does happen.

I was listening to a woman from the Geological Survey talking and she said it's not earthquakes that kill people, it's the old buildings; more of a political thing than anything else.

Talking to my son a few minutes ago, he said he was at work and he didn't feel anything at all. He works at Home Depot and he heard one of the huge shelves creak. He also heard someone on the other side and thought maybe they had hit it or leaned against and but then it dawned on him that it would have taken one of the fork lifts to even begin to phase the thing.

His boss came around the corner and told him to do a safety check. The timing was unusual til one of my son's friends came around the corner and said "That was coooool." He asked him what was cool and that's the first time my son heard that we'd just had an earthquake.

My middle son, I'm sure is groaning because he missed it. LOL He'd run and get on the top bunk and yell "Rid'em, cowboy!!" I always new that boy was strange! LOL

BP, the worst earthquake I've been through is the Northridege Earthquake in '94, I think. I was in my waterbed when that thing hit! Talk about a tidal wave!! LOL No... that one was scary!! WOW!!! BP???? It was still dark outside and you could see all the transformers exploding! We didn't have electricity for days... that meant NO GASoline! Everytime we went into town, everything was desolate! The freeways broke apart and cars fell into the hole! YIKES! I can do without that strong of an earthquake. But guess what? The Northridge Earthquake was a 6.7 and today's was 6.5.

Still... I'll take an earthquake over a tornado or hurricane ANY DAY! I've been in a tornado, thanks! Hu uh! Give me an earthquake any day!

Ya'll take care. I'm off to do some more baking for Christmas. WOW!!! BP????
