~~~~~~~~~~~If you're a supporter of Psych Central -- you've contributed to one of our members fundraising drives, or contributed to our newsletter -- there's a new private forum just for you!!
PM me, Kimmydawn or JustBen if you fall into this category and want access to the forum. Tell us what you contributed -- if it was to a fund, for which member and the approximate date of your contribution (amount doesn't matter). If it was an article to the newsletter, please provide the admin with a URL to it.
Thanks and we hope you enjoy this new feature!
DocJohn ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Doc, i'm really perplexed about your new forum. It looks, to me, that this is going to alienate people. I am speaking for the folks who are here that can't hardly support themselves much less someone else. There are alot of us.
We've helped keep your forum going by posting, chatting and Pming. We've offered up emotional support and sometimes that is harder than writing a check, sending an online payment or going to the post office to get a money order.
What about all of the posters, myself included, who worked on our poetry and allowed you to publish it. I thought that the sale of those books would also support PC. Are the CC people included in the private forum? I'm pretty sure that I remember you saying that the money from the sales of the books were going into the fund that PC maintains for emergencies. Such as the one Sleeps had.
It's pretty tiring to stay until til 2:00 a.m. listening and helping someone work through a catastrophic experience in their life. I can't speak for others, but I've done it and I didn't feel too hot at work that morning at 9:00 a.m. I did it because the forum is here and I am a member and I feel that it's part of my stewardship to support the people that are in pain. I didn't realize that doing that wasn't enough for me to have full privileges at Grohol's Psych Central. I'm a standup kinda woman and I guess I expected it from you.
I'm pretty puzzled by this. I would think that a feeling of unity would be what you're after. Especially after Sleeps pulled her number on PC and upset so many. This doesn't make me feel "united". It makes me feel ostracized because I haven't sent any money to PC. It actually feels more like a slap in my face than anything else that has ever happened here.
I feel that this is discrimination against the people who can't send money to Psych Central.
I have something else to say. I'm sitting here, with a big hole in my gut, feeling really, really hurt for myself and all of the other posters who haven't contributed. My first post was what I felt and believed when I typed it. I stand by that one completely.
This one is about how hurt I am over a "private supporter's forum".
I thought that too when I read Doc John's post.. Thinking supporters and non-supporters being alienated.. But then I don't post that much.. So I just thought ooooo well.. Thinking a lot of folks that have reached out and helped a lot of folks are going to feel bad about this or even rejected.... What in the world was he thinking when inviting certain folks to a special forum???????.... I'd think the folks that contributed a lot to this forum should be invited to the new one....Not just the ones that just gave money, but the ones that gave of their heart and soul....... hmmmmmm..oooo well again.......But then if everyone was invited lol.. it would not be a special supporters forum.. hmmmmmm Doc's new "private supporter forum"..........
did i say that i didn't trust him or did i say that i was hurt and didn't understand why he is doing it? i doubt that i'd be posting here if i didn't trust him.
tomi, members here have sent money. other members haven't. go read his "invite" again. my message flag is blinking constantly. others believe that they are excluded because they haven't sent money into the emergency fund.........or into any fund......
Ok... all I'm saying is, let's not over react until things develop or we get an explanation from Doc John.
Maybe he's just trying out the "hidden forum" idea that "everyone" said they wanted here????
Awesome awesome posts, I myself was thinking the same exact thing but I was to fearful to posts. Thank you for being brave enough to voice what I, and I'm sure many others, were unable to do themselves.
IDK, I feel a little hurt and castaway because I was unable to pull out my pockets. Personally I feel this is against the togetherness that PC brings.....it's kind of tearing us apart.
I may get deleted, friggin locked out, banned whatever for saying this but it's kind of a sell out.
IMO of course.
Hurts, sucks to hurt in the place I use as my little sanctuary.
If you're a supporter of Psych Central -- you've contributed to one of our members fundraising drives, or contributed to our newsletter -- there's a new private forum just for you
I don't see the words " hidden forum" but I do feel rejection.
desirae, i am supprised that my thread hasn't been deleted. it took tremendous courage for me to post it. i know that i speak my mind, but this was so very personal. i almost feel like we should form a union for the posters who are unable to send money to the "support others funds"....... Bravery comes along way....and wait and see...I'm sure these posts will be deleted eventually unfortunately. I don't know, all I know is I want to see what Doc says about this. I think in order to run a successful website you have to open and respectful to the members. So if he's unable to do this PC will fail sadly.
We'll just wait and see what he says and how he reacts.
What, Pat? Guess I'm just not very reactive. I've learned to not be. Most of the time, it has either gotten me into trouble or I've made a fool of myself. That's why I say, let's just wait and see.
I'm with fayerody and others who feel excluded just by the thought of a private club split off from the regular folk. Tastes bad, smells bad, I don't want to touch it. Septy, I don't care what explanation comes along, division is not what I expected here at PC. It feels wrong to me, like some kind of power trip, a manipulation. Weird weird weird.
