Hi All,

For all of my complaining about living in rural America, first of all I'm glad to be living in America. Second of all even though our town is pretty small, about 3,300 people, we have a very nice grocery store, and several nice discount stores.

We also have our own hospital. Hubby got a severe case of the hives last night around 11:00 p.m., and I wound up driving him to the ER around midnight. We were there for several hours, and returned home around 2:00 a.m. I was also lucky to be able to call our pharmacist at home today so he could come to his store, and fill the prescription the nurse practitioner wrote for my husband last night.

I had my Mother's Day crisis early, and am enjoying my day. Hope y'all are too.

Hugs,

EJ

EJ,
there are great things about living in a small town, especially if it's not too far from a big city where you can get what you want. Of course, there's always the internet.

I like everyone to know me and it's more intimate.

No need to apologize to me Feeling Grateful...

3,300? Wow...there's maybe a few hundred people where I am! (or less) Glad I'm in the country! In our little area we have 2 post offices, a restaurant, 2 convenience (general) stores, a bank, a funeral home, a church, and a furniture store...oh yeah, and a bar/lounge. I love it...and all that is within 2 small towns!

Wow, I could never live in a rural area. I'm way too used to living in the city. When I live on my own, I want to find a place downtown.

The quiet would be unsettling for me I think. LOL

Hi EJ,

I'm so sorry you had that emergency in the middle of the night before Mother's Day! Eek! I hope your husband is doing okay now. And I hope the rest of Mother's Day went okay for you.

I live in a larger community now, but for a couple of summers I worked on a ranch. It was in a "town" of 340 people. The "town" consisted of a general store, which had a few dusty cans! The general store also had a bar in back, and a non-working gas station in front. There were no other buildings in town, that was it. Frankly, we could never even figure out how they got 340 people on the town sign, but that's a different issue. Actually, the ranch was gorgeous and it was a beautiful area. We could look everywhere in all directions and see no neighbors, so it was pretty isolated....very quiet, just us, and the horses, cows, pigs, chickens, wheat, and rye! It had its plusses, but so does the life I enjoy now! It's very handy not to have to drive 50 miles (or whatever it was) to go to the grocery store. :-)

Hope you and your husband are doing okay now, and he is feeling better.

Take care,
ErinBear

Wow! Hives for Mother's Day, and he's not even a mother! I thought it was bad I got my period for Mother's Day, LOL!

I love America, but I'm sick of some of the things going on. I couldn't stand living in the country. I need to have stores and conveniences nearby. I also like knowing there are people near, although I'd prefer a house to an apt. and I like my privacy.
