I just 'fired' my current counselor because I didn't feel she was being objective. There were two items we disagreed on out of the hundred or so we discussed and she wanted to use that as an indication that I required some additional therapy to correct those two items, which landed me in a hospital inpatient stay for three days when I got agitated when she brought them up again.
My question now is does gender matter? I've had 3 or 4 and they have all been female. I didn't have any issues with any of them due to gender. The one that I fired could just have well been male. You'd think that different genders would ostensibly bring a different perspective to the same problem(s). Just thinking out loud because I'm going out tomorrow to search for a new counselor. '209. |

Most of my T's have been male. All of the male T's I've instantly connected to. My first female T really offended and belittled me. Currently my T is a female which was / is very hard to get use to. I have a completely different relationship with male T's than I do with female T's. I'm very light-heart & open with male T and very serious & closed with female T's. That said my next T will probably be a female. I think it all depends on how you respond to the T's gender but with those numbers I'd try a male T again.
