Whenever the seasons start to change, I start to feel really weird and depressed, and I have no idea why. It happens around twice a year- when it's about to be summer, and when it's starting to get cold out again.
I'm not sure why it is. I almost have like, vivid visions of the season, and they make me feel almost scared. Now, I haven't had any sort of thing happen to me involving seasons that could be making me feel this way. And it's not about change, because I usually don't have a problem with things changing. Why do I feel like this? |

Have you ever considered buying one of those big inflatable palms that are sold in most novelty shops, and pinning up a few beach posters? That might help!
Also, maybe if you leave things lying around, like sandals and a big floppy straw hat you may be able to trick your brain into thinking it is summer. The last thing I can think of would be to burn candles. Choose scents like melon and lilac. I've heard that smells cause the strongest memory recall. Just an idea, -Fleeing Bellocq |

This makes me think back to psychology class. There's a disorder called SAD. Seasonal Affective Disorder. It's basically what you describe. I remember the professor saying that's the easiest to cure. Use a sunlamp (not sure where to buy one) about 30 min to an hr. a day during your seasons of depression. Don't know if this helps or not, but it couldn't hurt to try. Here's hoping you feel better soon.

I can relate. Right now the season is changing, and I'm kind of losing my mind. Also it becomes dry so my asthma acts up. Fun times for everyone.

You might have S.A.D. Seasonal Affective Disorder. You become affected by the changes in the seasons. I sure do. Wheneven the seasons change, I get all messed up in the head. I LOVE the changes in the seasons visually, but my head gets all screwy. LOL It's really bad when fall comes cause I know winter is next, and I HATE winter with all the snow & ice.

Light Therapy has apparently helped many people. You can get light therapy lamps- they range in price, and are pretty affordable if you shop around. I found some good ones I have put on my wish list that I saw online.
My doc uses full spectrum bulbs in her reading lamps at home and in her office space. She says that they are much more economical and do help. Full spectrum light bulbs are easier to find. I have seen them in Walgreens and I think it might have also been either Lowe's or Home Depot... It happens to me, too. Every year. But mostly from November-February for me. |

I agree about SAD. A full spectrum light used first thing in the morning is very helpful. Be sure and open your curtains and/or blinds when you get up so lights gets to your brain. You don't want to keep your house dark all day as that makes SAD worse.
Another thing that has been linked to SAD is low melatonin levels. I've noticed how much less depressed I am in the winter if I take melatonin before bed. |

I always feel emotional when the seasons change (good and bad at the same time?) I remember when my kids were in elementary school one the teachers told me when the seasons change they would always notice a change in the kids. she gave a scientific reason for it but I dont remember what it was.

SAD is what I thought it was at first, but it's not linked to a particular season, it's between the seasons. When the weather just starts to change. It's kind of strange, because sometimes I have these vivid daydreams of the previous year during that season. Like, I absolutely love fall. It's my favorite season- it's gorgeous, and I love Halloween. But all through fall, I just feel weird. Like, as if the season shouldn't be changing from summer-like to winter-like. It's the same in spring. I feel like it shouldn't be changing from winter-like to summer-like. It drives me insane.
