I'm probably exaggerating a bit. But I will admit I am a bit disappointed.

Yesterday my husband and I packed up the kids and decided to head out to Athens where my college campus is. The original plan was to commute to Athens from my house for five weeks during the summer term. Well I was under the impression that the ride wasn't that bad and the time traveled was approximately 20 minutes. Well we quickly discovered that that was only half true.

So we decided it was almost impossible to attempt this and to be honest there's no way my car would put up with that ride (up and down mountains).

Now I'm not sure what I'm going to do.....all I know is I can't sit here all summer and wait for the fall semester. I'll rot away before then.

I'm considering a summer job.......but I'm not sure.

My plan and heart have been broken I'm sorry your plans won't work. Any way to take the coursework online from that same school?

I don't know what you are studying, but UMUC offers great online courses. Check out their listings of degrees offered.
Last year, UMUC had 143,544 online enrollments. The online classes are asynchronous (you can logon anytime 24/7 and do your work online and assignments are due weekly.)

Check out Forbes magazine review "Best in Distance Learning"

I did do some research on my optuions when I first discovered the local classes were full. They do offer independant study courses, which is online, but not for the summer term unfortunilty. Also I asked about a temporary transfer just so I can continue on through the summer and they Concord said if I did register with abother without a very good reason the credit I earned with them would not transfer with me.

I'm looking around and trying to figure out my options, although slim. I'm going to head up to the Beckley Center (off campus office I normally deal with), and see what they recommend.

The lady there is really nice and is a sucker for babies so I think I'm going to bring the double stroller and maybe she can squeeze me in somewhere here locally.

Wish me luck and thank you all for your support.
