This summer i am going to have a very weird shedule. i would like to do a Y program at 5:30AM, and I have drivers ed from noon until 2, and then [hopefully], i'll get a job. so i was wondering if this schedule is unhealthy, or fine? I'd wake up around 4:30AM, get ready and ride my bike to the Y. then i'll get home around 7, and go back to sleep until 11. and then i'll wake up for the day, go to drivers ed and sooner or later a job. I told one of my friends about that and they said it'd mess up my internal clock?

any opinions on this schedule of mine? i dont want to do it if it'll cause problems.

For me, I feel better when I do all my sleeping in one block. I used to go out till late at night, sleep a few hours, go to work, come home, sleep a few hours and then go out and that wore me down. Granted, I was doing unhealthy partying in the evenings =) but still. As long as you're getting at least 8 hours of sleep, eating right and drinking plenty of water, you should be fine. Just make sure to live healthy outside the crazy schedule!

Hi xnocturnal, I agree with Ray enough to say sleeping in a longer block is the most healthy, would it maybe be easier to try t find a job that would be right after the drivers ed so that you will just go there an dhave your full day.... then just early to bed so to speak and early to rise... I do think sleeping a little here and a little there can screw up your system and you can and likely will get burnt out... this is just my opinion and it is based on past experience, way past, when I thougth I could do it all and I did, but in the long run I got nowhere. Then again everyone is different... Some of this will depend upon the job you have too..... I sure wish you luck no matter how things go.. let us know. take care... hmm where in wisconsin??? i am up around the big party town yeahh me (being sarcastic!)

It's best to commit to 8 full hours of sleep at a time.

It is difficult to answer as each person's body clock varies. Some people need to sleep for 8hrs or more, others cope just fine with 4 hours. It depends on *your* sleep pattern.

If you can cope with waking that early everyday and sleep later on, then you should go ahead. But maybe you should try this pattern for a few days before making a commitment. So you'd know if you can sustain the rythm for an extended period...
