I am having trouble with waking myself up a lot in my dreams by talking moving etc. I did this as a child and the least noise would startle me. It's happening again, I was having a fairly harmless Walton's type of dream and woke up talking to a child about animal care and feeding. There was a hint of anxiety there. The child's parent was brusk and mean and he (the child) was tring to make something as a gift For a long time after my job I worked all night and now this is happening more and more. HELP

It sounds like that job screwed up your sleep cycle. Are you on a regular schedule?

Hi,

Do you drink caffeine during the day? I think caffeine can have long-lasting effects for a lot of folks. I used to have more of these kinds of dreams and problems when I drank caffeine. I stopped completely a couple of years ago, and my dreams and sleep-talking, etc., have slowed down a lot. It may not work for everyone, but it might be something to try if you haven't done so yet.

Making the hours before sleeptime as peaceful as possible sometimes helps too....i.e., not watching the TV latenight news at bedtime if that is scary for you, if you read choose a happy kind of book, exercise early in the day if you are going to exercise.....things you probably already know <g>

Hope you can get a better night's sleep. I know it's hard to miss sleep on top of everything else!

Take care,
ErinBear

Thanks for the ideas. Yes, I did have caffeine later yesterday. Ben, I meant that when I went to bed at night I would dream that I was working and hubby had to wake me up and tell me I was no longer working. I also shall try the lavender. I go to bed at the same time each night. One of the other players seems to be the pain meds make me dream weird and I have a lot of pain lately so... Hopefully tonight will be smooth sleeping. Thanks for the sleeping fairy. It is very troublesome to me and I am getting quite upset about it.

Hi Wisewoman,

Pain medication can have that effect on me too - making more strange dreams, and more sleep talking likely. You might talk with your physician about it, and see if they have any suggestions. You might be able to add in another medication to help. I take Benadryl at night sometimes (an over-the-counter antihistamine) to help with sleep. It is pretty mild. If your physician says it is okay to take that along with your other medications, it may help you sleep better and could be worth a try.

Take care,
ErinBear

Okay, fess up time. I am in a lot of pain and it is getting to me emotionally. The interesting thing is that I believe the pain also is worse because I am blocking up emotionally. And, it doesn't help that out of the last 45 days we have had something like 5 sunny ones. I feel like I am living in Oregon. So, I am resting again with yet another vicodin. I am wiling to bet that the weather plays a big role. Just trying to keep it honest. Thanks.

Hi Sleep, and quality

I would start to keep a dream journal of sorts and write down everything you remember from you dream after you wake up. And keep note of how your dreams relate or don't relate to your life past or present.

(((((((((Wisewoman)))))))))) My husband has a problem with waking himself up due to dreams. He usually wakes me up too. I sure wish there was a simple solution.

(((((((wisewoman))))))))) I understand the pain issues and trying to sleep.... I have lived with chronic pain for the last 16 plus years... heck I can't remember exactly anymore. I pray that the vicodin works for you and allows you to get some decent sleep... have you tried tylenol pms, or generic store equivalent.. they help me a bit and I take lots of pain meds on top of that.
Here's to hoping you have a fantastic, restful sleep tonight!!!!!
