Does anyone else lose their vision when something triggers a traumatic memory? I think it's fear related. One time a counselor tried to ask questions about the trauma and I turned into a human hatrack. Not sure how long I was gone, just kind of crouching there with my hands up. Life sucks but what else is there.

I have never had this happen. I bet you were scared, it sure would scare me. Hopefully others will have more insight for you. I wish you well!
Thanks for this!

I've never had that happen either, but when I've gotten faint I wasn't able to see.

I think "hysterical blindness" is known in the history of mental illness. It is real -- a kind of defense mechanism when no other defense can be found.

it is a form of dissociation, well doccumented and i think it has its own DM thingy code.
it is how your brain deals with the stressor/trigger, logic along the lines of if you can't see it it can't be there/happening!

I can relate. Back in February or so, I had some things happen that brought back a deluge of memories. I sat on the dining room floor completely paralyzed and couldn't move and rocked back and forth until it passed.

I was doing some rocking myself before things faded. I wish I could hug someone without it causing a stress reaction. I wish someone could hold my hands in a attempt to be comforting without triggering memories of a predator. I could still hear and he did something very helpful. He was talking about safe stuff from the day before and asking me to remember things. It worked to shift me off the memory although I was babbling like an idiot for a while before I calmed down and was able to see. They are life coaches and I think maybe they could help
