hi.

anyone else here has severe tv involvement issues or tv show withdrawals

will explain what i mean:

by involvement, i mean, say if i'm watching a tv show and someone dies in it.. i'll greeve them for weeks- i know it's probably natural to cry if your fave tv show person dies (or gets booted from the show) but to feel upset and greeve them for the next 3/ 4 weeks?

also i've been watching i'm a celebrity get me out of here... and sometimes when i'm not, i see the celebreties in m,y head- and i like to pretend i'm sitting in the jungle with them- doing some of the trials, etc. it's weird!

with the withdrawal part.. everyone gets withdrawal, but- for me.. i get everything- from un controlable crying and shaking, to suddenly coming down ill- being sick, eating even less etc- and sometimes i get the feeling it's my fault.

let me give you a recent example:

downton abby... i missed episode 3- and their were 8 episodes of this series so is it wrong to think...

" oh, the reason why downton abby series 3 ended was because i didon't watch episode 3?"

and think that the producers take it off to punish me

please don't tell me i'm the only person with all these thoughts/ interactions.

Sounds like you need more interaction with "live" people....maybe getting out more, making a new friend, volunteering, would help. It sounds like you are making the t.v. people your family.
Try to join something new, got to a bookstore, sit in a coffee house,join a book discussion, an art group etc........Volunteering would help a lot. NAMI....the group that advocates for mentally ill etc always needs volunteers for the phone, office etc.

Hugs;
Dee

I hope so
Seriously I am sorry it has this effect on you but that doesn't sound healthy. Have you ever thought about watching less tv or not getting so emotionally involved in the programs?

Sounds like it is definitely time for a change. Are you in therapy?
