Tonka is my dog he is a white german shepard. He just atruned 3 years old on mar 28 th. I got a letter from a lawyer wanting to know if i have any animals what type if its pedegree. this is a bill collecter so I think he wants to see if my dog has any monitary value. This dog I got from a vet the owner did not want the dog anymore, when he came here he was starving very skinny. Weell it only took me a couple of days and I seen this poor pup had a problem. He has mega-esoagus he cannot eat regular.I have to mix his food with water let it mix with the food to soften then i place it in my magic bullet the is great for this as i can make one cup of dog food at a time. I have to feed him like that 4 times a day. If I dont the food goes into a pouch in his throat and he could die from the food going into his lungs. I wish I knew what to do this is very scary I dont want to loos him he is my baby. I just had to write this out and try to get it off my chest. darnit this hurts. He may be taken from me.

If the lawyer is the one whom you owe money to, what he has just done is illegal. Intimidating, harassing someone with such fear is not allowed. You need to respond to any request, but not with the information requested. Advise them you are notifying the Florida Bar of their harassment.

If the lawyer is simply requesting information for their client who thinks there might be value in an all white shepherd, respond with what you basically said.. with a definitive, NO, no monetary value. The lawyer won't pursue this, imo.

How mean of them afraid of loseing Tonka TC!

I'm not in any way a legal expert, but while I agree you should say there's no monetary value, too, I don't think he could take your dog. I might be wrong, because I know pets are seen as property in the law, but I'm not sure that could be done, even if you owe money. It's highly unlikely, since your dog is a special needs case, so try not to worry too much.

I also agree that was unprofessional of the lawyer, and next time, tell him it's none of his business.

Sorry to hear this, I think it's crap......don
t allow this to go on. I really don't think it's legal for anybody, even if you owe them, to take a family member from you.

German Shepard's seem to have chronic health problem, especially if they were the runt. Do you know if Tonka was the runt of his litter? My mom bred German Shepard's for a few years and we've had a few that suffered from chronic stomach conditions and she has one now, he's about 4, his ears will not stand so he know suffers from chronic ear infections, I guess because fluid cannot drain and dry. So sad.

I feel you really love Tonka, especially since your willing to feed him that way 4 times a day!! Don't let anybody take him, sell something first.

I hope all works out.

I am so sorry. I saw Tonka's pictures in the gallery and he / she is a lovely dog.

I really am sorry for the anxiety and hurt this is causing you. I do hope things work out.
