I wish I had some wonderful words of wisdom, but I don't. Hugs are always good though.

Hugs,

I'm sorry you need to rush to the ER for these! I err on the other side...and never go but wait till I see my PT and tell him...it's always been the muscles wrapping over into the chest... yes they are terrible!

Can't you get your doctor to give you a muscle relaxant to help ease these when you are stressed?

TC!

OIC I guess you might need to take a muscle relaxant on a daily basis, with spasms that bad??? My pain med doesn't help much with muscle spasms either Why is it always something? Do you give yourself ice massages? Numbing the muscle can sometimes help to relax it... and meditation to relax??? Qi chong (tai chi) does wonders at times... Do you have a TENS unit? You might check into getting one... now that can help a muscle relax! TC! Hope you have a better night.

Hey ww, spasms are the suck aren't they.... when wound up that tight, whew, hard to break the cycle. Once this round is settled down, let's see if we all can't put our heads together and plan ahead so it doesn't happen or is nipped sooner or....

Sky, as usual, has good input. Tens, ice, meditation, body movement work.... I'll throw in: alternate heat and cold to confuse the nerves, deep breathing: directed to those knee jerk muscle groups, relaxing them from the inside out. A meditation/breathing/visualization combo.

I use pinky balls to acupressure my whole self. They are very helpful for me to relax tighties. If I am lying on my back, I can hold a pinky in one hand, with the weight of the other hand on top, and use the pressure to give me a breathing focus on individual spots and I work my way around my chest.

I don't stay too long at any given spot, just keep taking a couple long slow deep breaths at each spot and working myself over until it starts to give.

It's a way to train myself to relax around a point of pain instead of suck air and tighten.

You can go as gently and slowly as you need. But, after 25 years of "ball" work, I can say, it has given me a way to help myself, any time, day or night.

I've found my physical boundaries/limits and if I respect them and use my balls after each activity, I can keep my cramped out/seized up past at bay. The ***** is, I only have 1 little hour a day of physical activity in me. I break that down into 4 or 5 segments. Do recovery on myself after each bit.

To say I am frustrated by this schedule is an understatement, but, after a lifetime of horrid frozen head, neck, shoulders, back: 7 years of 2x week physical therapy + getting my bite freed, finally broke through the solid mass of pain and got some blood in there and I am not in agony anymore.

My physical life is on triage. I have to pick and choose carefully and it's a pain in the butt, but, I am not in agony and I don't want to go back there. Discipline, patience, perseverance, And trying everything you can think of till something works for you. You can do it.

Thanks you all. Today I was diagnosed with bursitis and tendonitis in my shoulser which is somehow involving the rotator cuff. OUCH. She told me to use the sling less and to do range of motion exercises. put me on more steroids. I am just glad that I have hope now. I slept without the sling and was good, nice nap. Pain in one's body is different than the oain in ones spirit and heart.
