So I have run into a bit of a problem, on my good days I don't know what to do with myself. I've noticed I can be feeling ok but then if I can't think of anything to do for the day I feel more depressed and I get anxious/restless feeling.

I don't have much money just what my family can give me here and there, I am in the process of appealing an SSI denial sort of, I have yet to try and get a representative. I'm also trying to see what is going on with some state assistance I applied for. Anyways my financial situation sort of narrows down my options even more. I am going to maybe try and go to some support group or two or whatever for depression and anxiety issues but besides that I can't think of a lot to do.

I live at home at my moms house, and its not an ideal environment but I try and make the best of it...I tend to leave overnight rather often to go over to where my dads staying but he works during the week so hes not always around. I tend to feel like I am doomed to restless boredom everytime I come back home when I am able to get out of the house especially overnight or for a couple days and I should be able to feel somewhat comfortable and content at home.

This issue seems to be driving me insane lately. I post a lot on forums but I need other activities since that gets boring and talking about problems on forums all day probably isn't something that's helpful currently.

sometimes communities and/or libraries have free classes and groups of sorts. Also, do you have any pets or like animals? I volunteer at an animal shelter to get out and at least do something, since I have trouble too.

Hmm I guess it would help if I had people to go do things with, but I don't aside from family which isn't all bad but of course it would be nice to have interaction outside of that. I have thought of volunteering, the place I was thinking isn't accepting applications right now though so that is something I'd have to wait on.

I do go to parks and stuff though I admit sometimes I don't really like going places alone.

Got a camera? Take pictures? Check out the "calendar of events" in the local paper, usually lots of free stuff to do, in a group or otherwise. (learn about something? climb a mountain? go camping? volunteer somewhere that is accepting/looking for help? train for a marathon? study local plants/animals/rocks?)-----
Swim? Check out local parks & recreation (pick up ball?) Stuff at the library?? Historical society? Clubs?

Ooh! It's always fun to go walk dogs from the dog shelter. Forgot that one

Some silly ideas:

Can you plan on baking or trying a new recipe. It would benefit all that live in the household and it shouldn't cost much unless you plan on cooking an expensive peice of meat.

Pick one room each day and just obssesively clean it. Buy cheap paint and re-paint a room.

Weed the yard.

Start a daily grateful list

Ask a neighbor if they need any help around the house.

Of course I do not know if you are physically disabled.

Pick up reading or writing. You can always do these outside. Nature centers, parks, and colleges always have good landscape.

There are always cool things on the internet, such as recipes and make up tutorials.

Teach yourself a new language.

Make a hoop and then learn to do tricks with it. Its great for anxiety. I hope this helps.

Does your library have computers/internet access? I'd invent a project and go there every day or two to work on it. I have to get out/away from home or it starts closing in on me :-) I get a lot of ideas just looking around in new environments, even just taking a walk.

Thanks for all the suggestions, all fairly good ideas. Its intresting I have just been feeling quite restless like I need stuff to do but then things like lack of bus money, still having anxiety and depression issues makes it hard to think of what to do or how I could do it.

If I get ahold of my dad I might go over to his place again for today, but even that gets old when its the only other place I go for the most part aside from if I go for a walk to the park or to the grocery store when I have food stamps.

I used to be into reading but I can't seem to get back into it so much. I might still get some financial aid in the next couple months...so I am hoping for that so I have a little something till SSI and can maybe afford to get out more. I take the bus to get around but its kinda pricey when you don't have a lot of spare change.

I do have to wonder though if this restless feeling is maybe a good thing in disguise, maybe it means the meds are helping me cope with stress so I want to get out and do more....I want to be careful about work though because I don't want to sabotage the SSI process so I am a little afraid of jobs even temporary ones.

Hellion,
Some people enjoy sewing (as in "sewing machine"). I found an old one in my garage and have enjoyed learning how to use it for many craft activities. Thrift stores and garage sales occasionally have working machines for 20-30 dollars. The same places frequently have fabric at cheap prices. Best wishes.
