Hi everyone. I'm struggling and have nobody to talk about it with. I posted in careers about capability redundancy. I today have been given six weeks notice. Sorry

Why were you given six weeks notice? Is this you job you are talking about? Could you give a little more information about what's going on?

Do you have any sort of personnel department that might be able to help you find another job in the next six weeks? Outplacement services?

Thanks for the replies guys. I have been in my job as staff nurse for five years. Unfortunately I have develop some kind of mental health problem which is why I can't work nights. I have tried with bad consequences. I was off last year from work for seven months but I've been back at work for the last year, not working nights and I have had 100% attendance. But I can't do the nights. I wish I could but it's scary how quickly things mess up

to me this sounds like a human rights violation and wrongful dismissial as well as discrimitory. I would contact your union rep if you have one if not then look into the labour board.
Thanks for this!

If you have a ada defined disability, they have to make accomodations for you. Are you in the US? If so, search for Job Accomodation Network and call them. Or search their site.

Good Luck! I am sorry this is happening to you.

I have my union involved. They agree it is unfair too so might end up in an employment tribunal. I can't face the next six weeks going into somewhere I'm not wanted.

sorry you are being so unfairly treated. typical NHS I am afraid, not interested in their employees or anyone using their services, only interested in lining the pockets of the bosses!

Im in the UK too. You know the time period to be able to go for wrongful dismissal if now 2 yrs since April last year? Your Union need to get a move on. Can you possibly get your Doc to say that you cannot work nights due to it being bad for your mental health?

Thanks citrine. My doc has written directly to my docs on several occasions but thanks for the idea. The cycle is pretty repetative!
