Ahh Baker Acted. You must be in Florida. I have been Bakered numerous times then I moved to PA and have been 302ed multiple times. I was hospitalized 14 times last year. About every 3 weeks. Unless you're violent it's not too bad. Whatever you do avoid getting civially commited. Go in on your own. Most hospitals won't admit you unless you're a danger to others or yourself.

When I was in residential, it was sort of laid back. We were allowed shoe laces, ipods/headphones, etc. We were allowed to bring out own shampoo/conditioner, razors to shave, cell phones, etc but they were kept in a locked room and were only allowed access to them during certain times.
Inpatient treatment is a lot more strict- no strings, no wires, no sharps.

I only know about staywell insurance as that is the company that I plan to go with when I move to FL next year. It allows 45 days a year inpatient solely for mental health.
