While I was never suicidal, I called some "crisis hotlines" when I was young and depressed/having a hard day, and one experience in particular stands out: I don't know how we got on the subject, but when I told the guy I planned to wait for marriage to have sex (I was a Christian then), he told me once I got out in the "real world," I'd see that's not realistic. And he laughed.

I just called the National Suicide Prevention Hotline, the woman was very condescending and rude and didn't even attempt to understand what was my problem. Good grief, thanks for giving me even more of a reason to live. Of course when you understand what's driven me to this stage you would probably judge me too. I just got fed up that I hung up and chucked my phone across the room.

I called a Help Line' years ago and told the guy I was suicidal. You know what he says, "Killing yourself won't make your problems go away." LOL. I mean HELLO, what problems does a dead person have?

The Suicide hotlines are run by volunteers. I called one ten yrs ago and the girl had major attitude. I said I had exhausted all of my options and she said I needed to see a Dr. I told her I didn't think she had been thru what I had been thru and she vehemently disagreed. She said "When you're stuck in a box you can't see the corners". Huh?
