What kind of memory problems do you have?

I struggle to remember the lyrics to songs, even if i've heard them a hundred times.

Also, i can't remember any jokes, although i think this is just a concentration thing cos i concentrated on remembering a joke once and i still remember it.

maybe i have to concentrate on memorizing these song lyrics too?

I don't bother memorizing anaything....I just make sure I learn where I can look things up when I need them.....don't want to fill my brain with too much stuff, so I don't bother at all.....I am willing to accept what sticks & now worry about what doesn't.....

My memory used to be a lot worse when I was living with my stbxh & was angry at him constantly...I couldn't think of the right word to use, or remember much of anything....not even why I was angry with him that time vs the previous time.....life sort of just mashed together into one huge mess.....but now things are getting better & I am learning where to find infrmation & some stuff actually does stick in my brain now.....go figure.

I have a pretty bad memory. Like, I'll forget whether or not I just said something to someone, or I'll fail to recall a conversation, won't remember the film I saw or what I had for dinner. Just stuff like that really.

Names. And if I am really tired, recall of seasonal things. For instance, the other day, 'cornucopia.'

I don't remember when an event has happened, like for example if you asked me how long ago I broke up with my ex, I wouldn't be able to tell you. I tell length of time by how long it feels to me. like it feels like 4 years ago we borke up but it was probably more than 5.
I also forget particular conversations I have had. Some I remember verbatim, then others nothing stays with me at all. I think it is selective hearing and memory. Yet my long-term memory of the past is phenomenal. I can remember all of my ph numberds and addresses from my childhood and the names of kids I played with when I was 5.
So I don't understand how the memory operates, or how to control my own. Good luck with yours.

I often struggle remember times and dates of appointments, but this is probably due to always getting numbers mixed up, so i alwas need reminders set on my phone unless it's something easy like 9am on the 9th.
Also I really struggle with simple sets of instructions/passwords etc - don't tell my boss but i have to have the instructions for locking/unlocking the safe hidden in my phone case

Entire weekends, holidays ... evidently I forget entire sets of days and do things that are completely out of character for myself and then remember things that never happened. Hopefully I'm actually writing this ...

I have trouble with passwords and user names but I think it is mostly because some sites make you change your password every so often. i have a program on my phone where I keep them all and it is password protected but I remember it.

Also, have trouble recalling names, dates and places things happen.

I'm very absent-minded. Someone can tell me something and in the next instant I'll forget it. I also lose stuff constantly.

I went into psychosis in 2008. My memory has been terrible ever since.
