I'm just wondering. I try to live my life as positively as possible, which do not only include actions, but also how you think. I know i should stop negative thoughts by default, But shoyld you ALWAYS try to think positively? Or imagining good things happen? When unconciously a good imagination about me and a girl slips in my mind, i feel good about it. But when i get aware of the fact that the imagination is making me feel good, i try to get that imagination back because i wanna feel the same way as when i was imagining it. But when i try to do that, it feels kinda forced. Like i have to think about and it feels like i'm putting more energy in trying to get the imagination than it gives me energy back. Or maybe it's more the doubt and confusion about doing this that makes me feel worse at the point. Because it feels like a huge bummer to try to think positively every waking second. It feels weird and it confuses me when i try to constantly imagine good things happen conciously. Is it in that case not just fine to think 'normally', or to not think at all?
But it is okay however when i give myself 10 free minutes to imagine good stuff happening in my llife. because at that point i'm not confused anymore whether i should imagine it or not because i gave myself the space to do it. Then it doesn't feel incongruent and forced. It's just that i don't wanna feel like i'm trying to force myself to think about something positive or to imagine something positive all the time. Because it's like the confusion about i should or shouldn't do it makes me feel worse at that point. Do you get where i'm coming from? I wonder if, and how i should conciously manage my thoughts and attentionn Can i have an answer to that? Last edited by Skanzi; Nov 27, 2013 at 08:50 AM. Reason: add |

the reason why you may not be getting an answer is because here in the USA today is a holiday called thanksgiving, many people start traveling during the months of November to be with their families instead of being on the internet.
another reason you may not be getting any answers is because we cant tell each other what to do, only you can say what to do about your thoughts and how to best handle them. all we do here is share with each other a bit of our lives and problems. then if someone has the same problem that has been posted about, they reply back about how that problem affects their self and how their own treatment providers (doctors, therapists, psychiatrists...) are helping them to deal with the problem. those that are comfortable doing so also click on the thanks button and hugs button, to let each other know someone is reading and understands or when we want to thank someone for what they replied or virtually give someone a hug. my own treatment providers tell me that for me its ok to have both negative and positive thoughts. to find out whats best for you contact your treatment providers, they will help you figure out the best way for you to handle your thoughts. welcome to psych central. |

They're just thoughts, I wouldn't put too much weight on them! Just be!! Don't believe everything you think!

we are humans and we all have positive and negative thoughts.the trick is to keep them balanced .YOu may choose not to dwell on negative thoughts and encourage positive behavior and positive thoughts, but you can not live your life forcing yourself to feel good by remembering or imagining pleasant ideas/images.Your brain has analytical capacity which may prevent you from living in fairy tale dreamland and force you to have unpleasant thoughts.it is great that you have a good imagination, but you have to be able to find beauty in real life, otherwise what you are doing is shutting off the reality because in's not easily perceived as pleasant and living in made up dreamland. Dare to live and see the beauty in reality, dreams are confusing illusion eluding reality take care |
