...what can you tell them if you don't know why you're upset? When people ask what's wrong... Nobody ever seems to believe me when I say that. When people ask what's wrong...

(Sorry if this is the wrong board - couldn't think where else to put it.)

I tell them that I don't know what's wrong and that I am just having a bad day.

I say I am just not sure or say "I am fine!"
Or make some sort of joke or smart deduction or language trick.

I usually go with 'one of those days'. Most people have had an off day, and can relate to some extent. When people ask what's wrong...

Sometimes it can be best to just say 'one of those days' or something like that to kind of brush it off...

When I don't know what is upsetting me I start to think about...

What am I thinking about?

What in the external world? Am I thinking a lot about something that has happened? In the internal world? Am I aware of thoughts like 'I'm so stupid' or something like that?

What do I feel like doing? With respect to fantasy rather than actuality... Do I feel like punching someone / something, do I feel like crying?

If you can figure out what is triggering your emotion and what you feel like doing then sometimes what emotion it is becomes clear.

Sometimes environmental stuff can have an effect too. Lack of sleep / food etc etc...

LOL!! Biiv-- I think your reply is creative! When people ask what's wrong...

Rio,
Seriously, I would first thank them for asking-- as I tend to blend in and not be noticed, so I'm not usually asked such a caring question in my 3-D world. and I think saying-- "just one of those days" is good.

You must have caring people in your life-- that's something to be thankful for.-- IMO. When people ask what's wrong...

Thanks for replying, you three. When people ask what's wrong... And mandyfins, you're right, I hadn't thought of it like that before! When people ask what's wrong... I usually try not to be noticed, and I when I'm upset I don't like people pointing it out, especially as it often makes me feel worse...they do mean well, though, and I should be grateful for that.
